Thank you all for the replies. They have her scheduled for a u/s on the 25th. She was able to speak with a different Dr on Sat and that Dr told her that as long as the numbers are going up not to get herself upset. The levels aren't a exact science. But she is still stressing herself out. I'm afraid the stress she is putting on herself, is going to do more harm. She hasn't had any spotting and only slight cramping here or there. She actually found out today that her ins. kicked in and she is now able to go to a different Dr.
Just because the numbers are NOT doubling dont mean miscarriage. Hernob should know that! Its when they decrease it's a bad sign! like if they check again and they go down.. that's a bad sign.. Her numbers are not doubling bbut they almost are. Did they schedule her again for . another hcg test?
she needs a second opinion. Tell her dont loose hope the same thing happen to me and I was freaked out to! My numbers at first did not double but they were increasing and im stillnpregnant today almost 5 and half months with a healthy lil girl. My ob told me its only bad when they are going down. I would suggest getting a second opinion and they shouldnt have assumed miscarriage unless they knew for sure!! Tell her to go get a second opinion and convey to the new doc as to what is going on. Good luck!
She should hope for the best but prepare for the worst. The numbers really should double.
I also want to add that they told her the sac was measuring 4.5 weeks. I had told her from the beginning that I thought she wasn't quite as far along as what she was thinking. She said it was very possible she had miscalculated how far along she was. If she is just now beginning her 5th week from what I have researched things seem to be right on schedule other then her levels not doubling within 48 hrs.
