folic acid ?!

Is it really necessary for me to take folic acid tablets ???

Besides most prenatals have it in them and if your really worried just up your nuts and greens in your diet you will absorb that kind way better anywho

Folic acid is a synthetic form of folate & it's bad for anyone to take. I'm a medical student & I was taught that folic acid was bad which is why I never understood why doctors insist we take it. Here's an article about it written by a doctor & can you find a lot more online about why it's not good. It's best to get folate not folic acid. & you can get folate from simply eating foods with folate in it. You don't even need to over indulge in it. I'm on 5 mg plus what's in the pre natal vitamin. Highly important! Any dr will tell you that.

Yes.  You should even have been taking them prior to conception, some say for three months prior.

Yes! It helps prevent defects and disabilities such as spina bifida.
