That'll be the least of your worries..when the time comes.
The perineal massage with vitamin E oil is the biggest thing but ultimately, if you're going to tear you're going to tear. All the methods are just things to try and help the stretching and make it not as easy to tear, they don't necessarily "keep" you from tearing.
When i gave birth one of the nurses put lots of Vaseline down there when i was pushing and i didnt tear at all. My skin only cracked a little.
Perineal massage before and during labor, appropriate positioning during delivery (as in, not laying on your back), not augmenting labor with pitocin or other forms of induction, not numbing away the sensation that is the body's way of saying slow down and allow for more stretching (that would be an epidural or spinal block), and patience. I delivered a nine pound baby med-free on my hands and knees and had no tearing or damage.
Do perineal massages with evening primrose oil around 35 weeks do it once a day till baby comes the doctor recomended that and i never tore at all
my midwife suggested massaging vitamin E oil into the perinium and gently stretching it with your fingers everyday from 35 weeks, I have no idea if it actually works but nothing to lose i guess
I tore will with both of my girls And prob will with this little one. Everyone told me kegels helped Apparently it didn't help with me but prob worth a try. But the tearing is really not that bad. it actually heals really fast. Try not to worry to much about it.
