Pregnant and sauna

I'm 6 weeks pregnant , we just find out this week, but I have a concern of without knowing I was pregnant I use to go to the steam room once in while , but I know is not safe for pregnant women , I'm worried that that may affect my baby. Is not like I was there for long time use 10 once or twice a week . Can someone help me to know if that will affect my baby ?

Saunas and hot tubs CAN hurt your baby, particularly in the first 14 weeks of development, so it is very important to avoid use of them. The actual danger comes from over-heating -- it's a good rule to always ensure you are well hydrated and never let yourself overheat while exercising, etc.

HOWEVER I would say that your exposure at such an early stage in your development -- and only for 10 minutes! -- poses VERY LITTLE RISK. I had a similar fear earlier on in this pregnancy and asked my doctor about my use of a hot tub at approx 5 weeks and she told me not to worry, and that the baby was literally a bundle of cells at that point.

Good luck!
