pregnancy hormone

Hey, How long does it usually take for the pregnancy hormone to get out of your system after a MC? I called my Ob the other day and she said that as long as I wasn't bleeding then we could start ttc again.  So, I was just wondering how long the hormone stays in your system. thanks

kandy

i was told to wait for three months before trying to get pregnant again, because if you do get pregnant too soon, theres a chance you might possibly have another miscarriage.

I had a m/c in November, a D&C actually, and my doctor said that it varies, but usually it only takes a couple of weeks to reach zero.  However, my numbers were dropping SLOWLY so I was going for weekly blood checks.  I actually never got to zero, and just last week I had an ultrasound and they discovered that I still had some tissue left.  So, I had another D&,C and I go tomorrow to get my blood checked to see what my levels are.  They should be zero by now!   My doctor suggested I wait 2-3 cylces before trying again.

They should drop fairly quickly...I had a mc in december and I had two follow ups...within two weeks my levels were 'not pregnant' I never got the numbers just the 'all clear'.  Like Wendy said it will be different for each person, and I think it depends on whether or not your body has passed everything that it needed to (gestational sac...placenta...).  Ask for a follow up bloodwork and transvaginal ultrasound to see if there is anything still in your uterus.  Good luck!  Also, on the ttc, I got conflicting reports from my obgyn, and the midwife at my family doctor...just putting it out there for food for thought...my obgyn told my husband and I we could start ttc once I got my period again...he said that would be the sign my body was ready to carry another pregnancy...my midwife who I saw for gyn stuff for like 10 years was appalled and said that your uterus should really have like a three month recovery from what a mc does to it...I didn't want to wait so I started ttc based on my obgyn's advice yet I haven't been able to...maybe my body is telling me to give it the three months the midwife suggested.  Good luck and sorry about your mc!

I don't think there's a set number of days... it's going to be different for each person.  From my own personal experience, it took a week and a half after my m/c for my HCG levels to drop down into the negatives (it sounds odd, but the #'s should actually drop below zero).  I'm a little surprised that your OB wouldn't want to do follow-up bloodwork.  If you wanted to, you could always request that they do bloodwork so that you'd know for sure when your levels are back to "normal".  Good luck with your next attempt!  Sorry you had to go through this loss.
