15weeks gender ultrasound?

Okay guys i need your advice. I have my 15 week appt next wednesday and I was told by my ob that unless I wanted to pay $75 for an additional u/s then my next one isnt until 20weeks. I was kind of hoping that i could find out the gender next week and we could announce to the family on christmas eve. Should I pay the extra and have one done or should I just wait until 20weeks? My dh is no help he just says hunny your carrying the baby you decide. Idk what to do. Thanks ladies in advance.

Thanks so much ladies, me and dh talked about it and i think we are going to have the u/s done just so we can see our baby even if we cant find out the babys gender.  We just want to see healthy and growing little baby bub swimmin around. I tried to call my dr three times today and all I keep getting is voicemail which is aggervating but they are very busy with babies in my area. All of my friends are pregnant with me, one is actually three days behind me and her baby is a 5 year late oops baby if you know what i mean. Goodluck to the rest of you ladies. BFP are in the air this year.

You should probably wait til your 20 weeks so it is more accurate, I was in the same boat as you today but money was an issue so I have to wait til Jan 9th which *****, but at the same time is better because ill be farther along! Just be patient so you can have a more accurate result and your family doesnt start buying you the wrong stuff ;)

Personally, i would pay the $75. I paid for all sorts of extra scans and was glad i did because i got to see more of her development and get more pictures. I would suggest shopping around and seeing if you can get a better deal. I know here in England that most places will re-scan you another day if they can't accurately determine the sex.  Also what you have to consider is that at the 20 week scan they stil might not be able to tell you the sex because the baby might not cooperate. I had an early scan and it said girl but they couldnt confirm this at the 20 week scan as she had her legs crossed. What you need to figure out is if you will be happy just to see your baby again and get some more pics and risk not finding out the sex if you pay the $75 but also risk waiting until 20 weeks and still not find out.

I would wait because they have a much better chance at telling you at 20 weeks.  I had scans sooner and you just never know if the baby will cooperate for one and also genitals are more developed at that time giving you more deffinat answers.  I'd hate to see you waste $75 for an answer you might not get.

Money isnt an issue but I dont want to have it done and not be able to find out.

Is money an issue for you guys? If so, I would wait. $75 is a good chunk of change, and it's not even a guarantee that you will find out at that appointment either. I personally would wait till the 20 week scan, and I would even if I had the extra cash to spare.
