Thanks ladies for your advice and prayers. They are going to keep Katie overnight and I glad for this...I don't know how my sister could even think about sleeping otherwise. The more eyes on her the merrier. I hope they can send her home with a apnea detecting machine or something....I am just so afraid my sister won't catch it in time. Not that she's a bad mom or something, in fact she's a great mom, but I just want the whole world to stare at my niece and make sure she's breathing at all times.
That is scary!! I hope she gets better soon. I will be praying.
My son had whooping cough at 5 months old and lasted until he was 7 months. They didn't diagnose him until he was almost feeling better and they said it was the tailend of whooping cough and he tested positive for it. He had the vaccine just a week or two before he got whooping cough...how convenient!! Anyway, his lips would actually turn blue and he stopped breathing and was choking numerous times. It was winter time, so my husband would run him outside in the cold to kind of shock him to breathe and then we would try to get the mucus out and put vicks on him so he could breathe easier. It was a scary experience to say the least and we didn't have any answers from the docs until he started feeling better 7 weeks after he had this.
Oh my so so scary! Vaccines can cause anything. In one boy I know of from some vaccines he lost his sight.
But honestly with the cough that you mentianed it sounds like a cold/whooping cough.
I hope she feels better and hopefully these breathing "stops" wont happen again.
