20 days to go

I'm still working. I want to quit but I'm not sure what the proper procedure is. Do I still need to put in a two week notice? My body really can't handle the physical parts of my job anymore. I unload trucks and put product on shelves at an arts and crafts store. Some of that stuff is heavy. I always come home with a ton of back pain and my legs, like the joints where they meet the pelvic bone, hurt so bad I can't even walk for the rest of the day. I work from 4am until 930am most days and the hours kill me too. I'm not going back to work there after my little man is born BTW. So I'm officially quitting there. Anyone know how to approach this?

Thanks for the advice ladies. I talked to my boss today and we agreed to have a one week notice kind of thing but the week depends on how I'm feeling and if I can handle it. I wish I was offered paid maternity leave! My job is very cheap though. They don't like to give us more than 5.5 hours because they would have to give us a lunch break after 6 and other sneaky things like that. Also they offer us health insurance but you have to be full time and they dont offer you full time. Gotta love the US.

I'm assuming your employer knows that you're pregnant, so they should and will understand that you must resign for the sake of your baby. When you're ready to go back to work, there will be many opportunities for you to find employment again! Maybe give them 3 days' notice and go from there. An employer would rather have you leave than know they *may* be fiscally responsible for your suffering. Good luck!

You could maybe speak to your doctor and ask them to give u a sick note to cover those two weeks?? I went on my maternity leave 4 weeks early due to stress and my doctor gave me a sick note to cover it ...although it might be different because ur not going back but I always had the option to still get paid maternity leave from my job even if I wasn't going back just not as much but I live in ireland and was working i  london don't know if where u live is different also :)

Talk to them about your situation and tell them you can't afford to put in your 2 weeks notice because your hurting.
They have to understand. You might be closing your door there but other doors will open up for you in Jesus name!
