3 mos old but sleeping like a one day old?

Ok so Stephany will be 3 mos old sept 6th. The last few days, well for about a week now, she has been sleeping 5-8 hrs at a time. Plus sleeping thru the night. I'm not concerned about her sleeping thru the night as she has been doing that since she was a month and a half, but she is usually up most of the day until a week ago. Is that something to worry about? It probably is nothing but being a new mom, I am not used to any of this. Could it be a sign of becoming sick? Or maybe a "growth spurt? Like today, she was at my sisters house and when I went to go. Pick her up after work around 230 she was asleep and my sister said she had been sleeping since 130 it is now 8 pm and she only woke up when I changed her diaper and then immidiatly passed out.

Definitely sounds like a growth spurt!  Nothing to worry about.

when my boys hit growth spurts they do that. their last one was december-january and i couldn't keep the boogers awake. they slept probably 18 hours a day (which i'm not complaining....i need the sleep too!!!! in fact they're getting about due for another one.

For my kids that was typical behavior of a growth spurt.  With my first I would try and keep him awake as i'd be so afraid he wouldn't sleep at night.  Then he would actually get overtired and sleep worse at night.  let's just say the second time around I just went with it and my life was much easier.  I noticed this would come and go around normal growth spurt times in their development.  I would think as long as she's not running a temp or acting sick in any other way, that it's nothing abnormal, but only you can decide if you are comfortable with her current behavior or not.  If you have doubts give your doctor a call to put your mind at ease or seek further evaluation.
