If you use free and clear anyway that should be fine (: ive always heard its the same as baby detergent
I'm not sure what brand it is but it's Sent free and sensitive skin
Ima b using jus regular downey? Is it bad ? :0
Yes any scent free or detergent with no dyes and for sensitive skin is good for baby too! I just use tide free and gentle and it has no dyes and no perfumes :) I now use it on mine and my fiances laundry to, I don't see a need for two separate detergents
I'm going to buy dreft just to be on the safe side for baby
Ok good I think I'll be fine then! My mom said she never even used the sensitive skin kind with me and my brother and we were fine. I'll just wash them with what I have and if it irritates his skin when he gets here ill rewash everything with baby detergent :))) thanks ladies!
Sorry to post a question on ur thing but u girls think using regular downey will be to strong for baby????
Are you talking about fabric softener or detergent??? I don't mind at all if you ask questions on my posts lol everyone has questions and it's basically the same question anyway I'd also like to know if downy fabric softener is too strong!?!?
I just rinsed my daughters clothes a second time just to make sure it wouldn't irritate her skin until she was about 6 months old.
Can i use extra?? That's The brand
I use baby purex its way cheaper than dreft and it smell good.
Zaira92 I'm using Downey fabrics softener too so I hope it's ok. I'd say I'd let you know when baby wears the clothes but we have the same due date so that won't work lol
Haha thats true well i guess we will have to expirament nd hope its not bad lol or I wud think the fumes r a bit strong lol
I used just the free and clear soap and softener (I think Downey sells one) for my first. We got it from Costco in bulk...
I was nesting this weekend and didn't want to go to Costco and have to lug that big bottle around, so I just picked up some Dreft and the scent free Downey from the store.
Either will work you don't want to overwhelm the baby's nose or give him a skin rash, but I've found that the free and clear is usually cheaper.
I'm just gonna wash and hang everything ASAP so they have time to air out

I used drift with my first only because I got some at my shower. Once it was gone, used regular soap. In my opinion you don't need it. I've been washing my daughters clothes for 3 years regular and she'snever had irritated skin
The way i looked at it, was i washed everything in our regular detergent...if baby has a reaction, its no big deal to run to the store and grab something different to wash them in. My son never has had any issues, either with detergent or fabric softner. I use liqued sun, and downy softner. Why buy the expensive kind if you dont have to right?
Yeah my mom said the same thing with her five kids she never used different soap and we were all fine if you baby does by some chance have a irritation to it you can always switch but I think its a waist of money to by dreft if you want to get something diff there are tons of genaric brands of baby soap
I just asked my Grandpa and he said that you want a detergent like purex that for sensitive skin but he said downy has always been the best softener for adults and babies that and snuggle i shed him if that's to rough for baby and he said no so I'll be using downy :)
For aussie mums. My bf gets reactions to softners and detergents except Biozet. Its amazing and thats what i will b using for our baby. :)
