5 weeks --> no fetus

Hi all, my name is Sam and I'm 21 years old. I went to the gynecologist 2weeks ago when I was 3weeks 6days but there was no sign of a fetus. A few days later( 4weeks 3days) there was still no sign of a fetus. The nurse did 2 blood tests on seperate days and my HCG levels are what it is supposed to be for the pregnancy.I have been scheduled to see the gyne again this coming Monday (13 Dec)  to see what's going on. I have NOT been feeling any cramps or any symptoms. What's going on, please help.

you can see a fetus between 6-7 weeks so i agree with all of them. No need to worry on that side.

You cant see anything on an ultrasound until your hcg level is greater than 2000 and you most likely wont see a fetus until between 6-7 weeks so i agree with the above statements.

you doctor sounds weird!! They usually cant see anything until 6 or 7 weeks. my baby wasn't seen until 7 weeks! don't freak out your still early and yes take your vitamins.

I agree with the others, try to stay calm and positive. My RE did an u/s at 5 wks, 6 wks and 7 wks. This is bc I had IUI and at 5 wks they check to see if the sack is in the right place then at 6wks we could see a flicker of a heart and then at 7 wks we could acutally get a reading of the heartbeat and see that there was a baby in there.

Thank you very much! This whole thing is so weird. I will give an update when I see the doc at 6 1/2 weeks. In the meantime, it is alright to take prenatal vitamins, right?!

Yeah I agree with the first comment what the heck did they send u for a scan for at 3 weeks, ridiculous! My doc won't do anything till ur 6weeks plus just to save this worry n stress

I went for my first u/s @ 6wks and all we could see was the gestational sac, so I had to go back @ 7wks for another. I was really upset, but the u/s tech told me that 1 week will make a world of difference! And sure enough, when I went back we could see the baby and a flicker of a heartbeat. Please try not to worry (I know it's easier said than done!), I'm sure you will see something when you go back! Best of luck!!!

Hey hunny, I am not sure what you gynecologist is playing at, the ultrasound scan doesn't show up the gestational sac till you are at least 4 weeks more commonly 4 and a half weeks. The fetus wont be visible on scan until you are at least 6 weeks or so, the yolk sac will be most likely visible by 5weeks or so. Don't panic hunny, Just wait until you are about 6 weeks and then see what happens, If you Beta HCG are looking good then the pregnancy is more than likely doing very well and there will be nothing to worry about. I hope everything continues to be okay, but I don't think you have anything to worry about at the moment hunny! :) x
