5 weeks pregnant but no fetal pole

Hi,

I am 5 weeks pregnant now. i underwent an ultrasound yesterday. But the doctor said all she was able to see was the yolk sac. Is it normal in a pregnancy of 5 weeks? The doctor said that the fetal pole and other parts may appear within next 3 weeks. But i am little bit worried.

Note: I have a history of irregular periods. My Last period was on 26th march 2009.

Will everything in this pregnancy be normal?

Help please

When I was pregnant with my son, i went to an ultrasound at 5 weeks. The doctors couldn't see anything! No sac, no baby, nothing that would really confirm a pregancy. So they thought it was ectopic. Well I knew it wasn't so I waited a week and went to a different doctor to get an ultrasound and sure enough my baby was there! So I would say it's common that it happens!

It's completely normal..My last pregnancy I had an u/s at 5 wks 3 days and all we saw was the fetal pole and yolk sac....another u/s at 8wks 3 days showed a perfect heartbeat....he is now almost a year old :)  I'm sure everything will be fine,.

Yep! it's completely normal! I had a U/S and we only saw a little round sac. nothing in it. Dr. estimated I was 4 or 5w. Then about 8 or9 days later I had another u/s and we saw baby and a heartbeat!

Honey it is normal to be worried about every little thing in a pregnancy but no one on this sight can tell you definitely that everything is well. Babies do develop differently (some quicker some slower) and when you are having ultrasounds that early it is really hard to tell... Maybe you ovulated later than you thought and a few days can mean the world to early development :) Don't worry! Good luck!
