Unknown edd, hcg levels rising, yet 1st U/S no sac?

I recently had my 1st OB appt, which upon my request, the midwife performed a vaginal U/S.  No gestational sac was seen.  By a perfect 28 day cycle I would have dated around 7 weeks, however I have typically long cycles which have been near 40 days, a couple times longer, with what I believe to be late ovulation from self monitoring over the years.  However, she went ahead and ordered a hcg test that afternoon it was 2000, then followed by another which was 4860 yesterday.  Wants me to follow up with another U/S on Tues morning.  She said my levels rising the way they did, thats very good news, and is hoping it's just the dating thats off, and we'll see something next week.  I have two boys, 5 and 3, which were perfect pregnancies and births.  Had one miscarriage between my boys, and have had 2 more after my 3 yr old was born, all ending within first week or two, and levels last recorded were only 25 before miscarriage, so very early on, most women never would have known they were pregnant likely.  I'm feeling a big relief knowing my levels are high and rising the way they should.  However I know until they see baby in the uterus I'm still a canidate for ectopic, I haven't had a bit of spotting, nothing.....all the pregnancy syptoms I hd with my boys, and lacked with my miscarriages, so thats promising....however always seeking more info until I can be reassured by a Dr visit with answers....Thanks for any advice....

Thanks for the reply, and good luck to you with your lil ones.  My sister was pregnant with identical twin girls, which unfortuately she lost at 5-6 months due to preterm labor they couldn't stop after medicating her!  One of the girls was much larger than the other, and granted this was 13-14 years ago, she was told that one was thriving more than the other, and the stronger absorbed more of the nutrients, ect needed to thrive, therefore in a sense depriving the other twin.  =(   Don't hold me to it as medical adivice, as I'm staing it was so long ago, and thats just a bit of what I remember from the unfortunate situation.  Best of luck to you!  I just found this sight and am looking forward to making some new cyber friends/mommy's like myself.  Take care

i think all you can do is wait it out.  To have hcg you have to have something in there.  I experienced a blighted ovum with my first pregnancy and i know how horrible waiting can be, I'm actually waiting to hear if one of my twins is alive.  But I can't think of anyreasons why they wouldn't be able to see a sack. I hope all works our for you and waiting is in your favor.
