5 weeks with questionable symptoms while taking progesterone?

Hi, I am a few days away from the 5 week mark. I have had two previous miscarriages. When I went to a natural health practitioner I was told I have extremely low progesterone levels, and was advised to use progesterone cream during the second half of my menstrual cycles.  The cream helped many of my unpleasant pms symptoms. My questions are these:

I am still using the progesterone cream, because I fear that falling progesterone levels will cause another miscarriage. Has anyone used progesterone to maintain a pregnancy?

Also, I am having some abdominal pain, and fear ectopic or something similarly bad, but they come and go. I have also had a dull pain / throbbing sensation in my pelvic area and lower back that comes and goes. Does anything think that might be related to ectopic, or that perhaps the progesterone is preventing symptoms of an otherwise imminent miscarriage or ectopic? Is this normal at 5 weeks?

Any advice is helpful :) Thanks.

ps. I have my first dr appt tomorrow, but it is at a planned parenthood facility, and Im afraid they won't be educated about progesterone cream. does anyone have any experience with planned parenthood? Thanks!

If it were Ectopic, usually the pain would be quite sharp and centered on one side. You might also experiance bleeding as well. Cramping is common in early pregnant due to your muscles being used different and having to accommodate the pregnancy.

As stated, progesterone is naturally produced and is what maintains a pregnancy. This keeps your body from miscarrying, so yes if it's inevitable it will happen but only a doctor can confirm that. I never personally used progesterone, but I know many woman who have and have gone on to have healthy, full term babies. You shouldn't be too concerned unless the cramping turns into excruciating pain and/or you experiance bright red/clotty bleeding.

I also have no experiance with Planned Parenthood (I don't agree with some of their methods) but I'm sure they'll be able to give you the information you need and are looking for.

I can't really help with progesterone but I know that it helps maintaining a pregnancy, so if ur doctor asked u to continue taking it, then u should

As for ur pain, I hear it's normal bcoz ur body is streching for ur baby and all the place he/she needs, hopefully everything is fine. Just make sure to clarify all ur questions with ur doctor

Best of luck
