6 wks pregnant and had a ct scan with contrast

I am 6 weeks pregnant and had an x ray 2 days ago and had another one yesterday and a ct scan with contrast the doc at the hospital said there was serious complications due to radiation but they said I needed the ct scan to see if  I had a pulmonary embolism

I agree. It's better to be safe than sorry with any kind of possible clotting. I had multiple pulmonary embolism in both my lungs last year. Horrible pain and a week in the hospital. As a consequence, I now have to take heparin twice daily to prevent the possibly of more clots forming. We are already at a high risk for clotting when we are pregnant, so the need for the scans were definitely higher than the risk for baby. PE kills people every day.

There could be complications from the contrast dye they use, however if you had a pulmonary embolism its very likely it would kill you and baby which is why they took the risk.
