6wks and no fetal pole

After having a misscarage in January, my husband and I were suprised to find out that we were expecting again very shortly after. But a few weeks later I started to have some light bleeding I went to my doctor and he did an ultrasound and to our suprise no only were we pregnant but we were having TWINS. The tech said he thought he saw a fetal pole in one of the two sacks but couldn't be sure. Today I started bleeding again and heavier so I went in for another ultrasound there are two sacks but no poles in either yet. I am so scared that after this great joy after a loss that I'm loosing my babies again. My doctor says if there is no poles at my ultrasound next week there isn't much hope. Is it normal not to see a pole for a couple more weeks?

How far along do you think you are? Most people see a heartbeat in the beginning of 6 weeks... but sometimes due to positioning and how good an ultrasound tech you get you might not be able to see if until closer to 8 weeks. I had a miscarriage and then got pregnant again right after and bled worse than a period for 5 weeks and now she is 3 months old and sleeping in her swing as I right this. Bleeding doesn't always mean miscarriage. Hopefully you'll see 2 heartbeats at your next scan.

When I went for a dating ultrasound I was 6 wks 3 days and all the tech could see was the yolk sac so I wouldn't be too concerned at this moment.

I'm sorry for your loss and hope that the next scan goes well, and you see two healthy babies =D
