I would say yes. My first daughter came spontaneously at 28 weeks and stayed 6 weeks in the NICU with no problems. She came out breathing on her own. She was just 3 lbs. So for me, making it a few more days to 36 weeks this time is a blessing and my doctor doesn't seem concerned.

Yeah I'm from England too and 37 weeks is classed as full term here for a baby but at 36 weeks, baby could still have some complications which could lead to NICU but it isn't a high risk.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has officially made the change to 39 weeks, however many OBs still consider 37 weeks to be full term. As for 36 weeks some babies are fine and others require extra care. My niece was born at 36 weeks and spent quite a bit of time in the NICU and was under 5 lbs.

My doctor and hospital still says 37weeks is full term and they have made no mention of a change in that and haven't heard that anywhere around here so maybe thats just certain areas changing it to 39weeks

There is a conflict of opinion among Drs. The common thought was 37 weeks was considered "full term", but many many Drs don't consider full term until 39 weeks. On any case, gestation is 40-42 weeks. You shouldn't have a baby at 36 weeks unless there is a medical concern either for mom or baby. Each week is critical development. Baby may be born fine, but then again could need a month in the nicu with assisted breathing and an IV. It's just hard to say.

Most doctors don't consider you full term until 37weeks, so thats really close..I think baby and mom would be fine aside from any complications..my last babys water broke at 36weeks 6days, labor went into the next day when I was officially 37weeks and he was fine, perfectly healthy 7pound 12ounce baby

37 weeks is considered full term in alot of places.  And there is no actual definite answer for this question, as some babies born at that gestation are complete fine abd others need alot of help and stay in hospital for a while. Best of luck. Best to chat to your dr if you are concerned
