About the mini-pill

My doctor prescribed the mini-pill for me until I'm done breastfeeding.  Hubby and I both have our watches set so he knows when it's time to bring me my pill every night (a ritual we carried over from pregnancy when he would give me my prenatal vitamin at night).  I know the mini-pill must be taken the same time every day to ensure maximum protection, hence the watches.  =D

But I was wondering how many of you took the mini-pill and how effective was it?  Did anyone get pregnant even using it perfectly?  I wouldn't be upset if we got pregnant again so soon, but we are hoping to wait till at least Nov. before we try for our girl!

I have taken it after my last 3 babies.

My only problem with it, was for me, it made me bleed a lot.  Well, it did this last time anyway.  It's like I would stop bleeding for like 3 or 4 days and then have a full blown period again.  I finally had to stop taking it.

It didn't effect me that way previously either.  The only time it would make me bleed was if I forgot to take a pill.  It wasn't like regular b/c where you would have to miss 2 or 3 to start bleeding.  Nope, if I missed just one, I would start bleeding.

But then I have heard the opposite for others as far as side effects go.

Good luck with it!  I know and have heard that people have gotten pregnant on it, but my husband and I are very fertile and I didn't get pregnant on it.  Of course, we are all different though.

I don't want to take it so I didn't vote. I'm still breast feeding an 8 month old and so far ( at least I don't think) I'm not pregnant.  It wouldn't be an issue if I did get pregnant again which is why I've decided not even to take the mini pill. That's what my dr prescribed - I filled it and they're sitting in my medicine cabinet.  I know the hormones are excreeted in the breast milk so I am choosing not to take it.  I know other ladies that took the mini pill and did not get pregnant!

I took it after my first dd was born.  I actually didn't even realize you had to take it at the exact same time every day.  I did take it at around the same time every night, but it wasn't exact.  I did not get pregnant while on it, but that could have been a combination of the mini-pill and breastfeeding.  I also didn't get periods at all until about a year after having my daughter, around the time I weaned her.  I would definately take it at the exact time if I were to ever use it again, but I won't need birth control after this baby is here.  I'm getting a tubal.
