ultrasound tomorrow 37 weeks, experienced moms

I'm having amb ultrasound tomorrow to see the babys weight! Anyone have any input on how accurate it should be.  Or what type of ultrasound they will use in such a late time? Hoping for 3D. Also wondering if I'll get any pictures or if it's strictly to check his wrought really fast.

I had an ultrasound at 37 weeks, it was just the same as all the others I had, nothing special. They did print 3 pictures! I'm sure if you asked the tech they wouldn't mind printing some. Mine said my baby weighed 5lb 15oz but I heard they can be really off or right on. The tech told me that there was no way of knowing for sure until he was out of me and on a scale!  Hope this helps! :)

The weight is hardly ever 100% accurate. It can be pretty close. Mine said around 7lbs and he came out 7lbs 6oz. They should just use a regular ultrasound. Most OBs dont have 3Ds. You have to go to an actual clinic that does 3D ultrasounds in order to get one. They normally cost like $100 (at least around where I live). It all depends on your baby's position and how possible it is for the doctor to see him. Most will print pictures if theh find good ones. I got one pic at mine but you couldn't tell what it was because he was so squished lol.

They check because its normally 1/2 lb off or so either way. But it will let you know the approx size of your baby. The doctors need to know if he is still growing properly. Or if he is very large or too small. The weight can effect how and when your baby can come.
