That's the exact same stuff I used with my last pregnancy for a yeast infection. I think it's perfectly fine. Of course I wasn't dialated at the time, as long as you AREN'T leaking fluid I don't really think it would matter if you are dialated some. It is a good idea to get checked to make sure you aren't though. Just keep in mind that in order to check they will have to do a pelvic exam and take a swab which means it could aggravate your cervix so don't be surprised if you have some mild bleeding or carmping afterwards.
Terconazole - I think it is okay - I did a couple more searches for it and see a few prego woman using it.... I am just freaking myself out today. I AM SOOOO BORED. Thanks for all of your help...
No not necessarily. It just means they have not conducted enough actual controlled setting tests or expirements to determine the effects. The majority of ob's only prescribe Catagory C drugs that have been prescribed to pregnant women for awhile with no adverse affects. What is the yeast med they put you on?
Oh GOSH - is level C bad... my yeast infection cream is LEVEL C - and I am dialated.. OH GOSH....
I found this, it's more detailed information abuot the pregnancy warnings for that med:
http://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/nitrofurantoin.html
From what I read it seems ok to take it. It's a catagory B drug which is better than a lot of the crap ob's prescribe for pregnant women. It also specifies the reason why it should be taken in the last few weeks or while in labor. Hope this helps put your mind at ease some on this med.
Usually I see do not use if you are prego - but this one is weird...
PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Nitrofurantoin while you are pregnant. Do NOT take Nitrofurantoin if you are at term (38 to 42 weeks pregnant), if you are about to go into labor, or if you are in labor. Nitrofurantoin is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed infants younger than 1 month old while you are taking Nitrofurantoin . If your child is older than 1 month, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

I have never heard of the anitbiotic - it is Nitrofurantn - and I find it ironic that I am on pelvic rest and was told by the nurse - do not stick anything up your vagina - however now I am to put medicine up there - All I could think of last night (I did use it and thought of all of this after) was it getting up to the baby and her trying to swallow it if it entered the fluid - I know it is crazy - but hey.. I am on bedrest .. home alone ALL DAY - so of couse I am losing my mind (heheh) I told the Dr that I use difucan usually but I never had a yeast infection while prego... who knows - I just want my appointment to be here soon.
LMAO, sorry I had to laugh at that last line. What medication did they put you on for the UTI? I've never heard of a med having that kind of warning either. I also agree it's best to wait on the yeast meds. I would ask your doctor about something like oral diflucan. That way you aren't introducing anything foreign into the vagina. Diflucan usually is pretty effective as well. Good luck. Let us know what the doc says.
good luck at your appt today....
Curious - I was up worried most of the night. The antibiotic clearly stated on its warning to not take this med if you are 38 to 40 weeks pregnant - in labor or could be close to labor.. WTF is that - I have NEVER seen that on a warning label... SO I am a tad worried about that - but the vaginal yeast suppositories are worring me the most. I am 2cm dialiated - they did not check if I was leaking fluid - I feel constant drips all day long (which I contribute to bladder infection and baby kicks) but if it was not pee - I am putting meds right up there... I have a dr appointment at 11:00 am EST so I am going to ask - but it just does not seem right to shove meds up there if I am open.... I was told to only put it in a little - not to touch my cervix... but now I am worried ... Thoughts? Oh - and now instead of pink when I wipe it is orange from the meds... Wonderful. Loose poo... orange pee and yeast meds.. I AM SOOOO ATTRACTIVE!!!!
Oh hun! i hope the medication starts working asap and you feel better soon, i feel for you hun i really do. Let us know how it all goes, an i am so glad baba is ok!!
:-)
I'm glad you went in, both of those need to be treated in order to make you feel better and reduce the risks for baby. I'm also glad that it was something minor compared to what it could have been.
i know how you feel..im 36-38 weeks and i also just found out i have both! Very bad too.. :( , hang in there girl your almost there! :)
double whammy...yuck...at least you have meds now and hopefully will start feeling better soon...did they send you home? did you dialate any more?
oh good so just uti and yeast? that's definitely no fun but better than an early delivery!!
I'm glad you are going in, I know it is hard to keep going into L & D, but I had my first baby at 28 weeks and had no clue he was coming, babies born at this gestation have an excellent chance of making it, but still usually need some kind of intensive care! I am currently pregnant with baby #4 (24 weeks) and if i had the same symptoms as you I would go in just to be safe! I hope it ends up that there was no really reason to worry, but better to be there and not need it than have a baby at 29 weeks at home! I will pray for you and your baby! good luck and keep us posted!
Well.... UTI AND Yeast - a double whammy.... explains why I feel so crappy.
Just looking for an update. Hope your LO stays put for awhile longer:~)
Hope everything goes well. Hope your lil one gets to incubate a lil longer. Stay strong.
oh no! i'm sorry i am praying for you and your precious baby!!!
Good luck. Praying that you aren't 4 cm and that baby will continue to bake for awhile longer. Please try to update us as soon as possible.
good luck....we'll be praying for you
Well - I am off to L & D... he wants to make sure I am not 4 cm yet as I guess they would do the section... happy thoughts - Hopefully I am still at 2cm! Chat with you when I get back.. I already ate and I will drink on my way!!!Thanks girls!
