4 positive home tests 1 positive blood test then period (or dedcidual bleeding) and then negative test

it was 5 days before my period and i had pregnancy symptoms my mom suggested that i take a pregnancy test since my boyfriend and i happened to have unprotected sex when i was ovulating quite a few times. i took the test and i got a faint plus, i took another test and i got a faint plus. to make sure i wasnt just blind i got a digital test that would tell me pregnant or not pregnant, i got pregnant. so i went to my doctors office on monday and i got a positive qualitative test and i still had pregnancy symptoms. however i began to spot on tuesday night and it eventually began to seem like my period. not sure what was happening i called my doctor since it was the day before thanksgiving she told met to go to the ER. so i did however the hospital i went to didnt have a OB department. However they still decided to see what could be the matter. they ran some blood tests again and did a quantitative test and my hcg said that i wasnt pregnant nor was i even close i was above the hormones level for non pregnant and menopausal women and below the hormone level for pregnant women.

they said that all of the TESTS that i took mustve been wrong and that it must just be my normal period.
since this would be EXTREMELY RARE and close to impossible i was bothered and have been doing research and discovered that i may be decidual bleeding(like a period but not) and may still be period and have seen a few websites that say when it happens my hormones are out of whack and that false negatives can happen while getting blood test when decidual bleeding. i want to know if false negatives can happen during that time period. and if i should get another blood test a week from now since it sounds so crazy that i would take 5 preggo tests 4 home tests from diff companies and 1 blood test at the doctors. and suddenly not even be close. i still have a few preggo symptoms and i just cant let this go without an explanation.

Yeah i agree, remember i got a pos digital 17 days after i bleed and it was like a reg period ,nothing weird. The only reason i took a test was cause i didnt get normal periods on the pill i was on and i messed it up. If i never tested i would not have known the diff. When i went to the actual Dr he said he agreed i was prego but said it was too early to see the baby, So he did some tests and they said i have not been prego for a bit. My levels did not reflect someoe who just mc. because really at that point i MC like 20 days earlier. But the digital was so sensative it picked it up, and the other test were more accurate. It makes you wonder, but im sure you were prego but it just didnt take, i would not beat your self up over numbers or tests, esp with a Er that doesnt not have a Ob section. There is always next time. as there was for me, im prego now and got preg right away after it. Good luck!

I'm with Spade22.  It is EXTREMELY rare to get a false positive Preg. Test especially multiple false positives....given you did urine and blood tests.  Unless you were on any type of meds that contain HCG it's highly unlikely that all of those first tests were false positives.  I think this ER you went to isn't as experienced with OB - type work and was guessing.

Definitely sounds like a chemical pregnancy.

When you took the tests your HCG was high enough to be detected (some tests are very sensitive and detect levels of HCG as low as 25 mIU).  Levels could definitely drop to below 10 within a few days if you had a MC.

Bleeding will not effect the accuracy of pregnancy tests.

I had a pregnancy test come back positive in the past and went to the doctor a couple of days later for a blood test. My hcg came back at only an 11. They told me that I had a chemical pregnancy (early miscarriage) and would begin to bleed at any time. They were right, I began to have my "period" the next day. They said that it is pretty common and unless you are testing early, you probably would never have known because it is usually like you just start your normal period, maybe just a day or so late.  For me, it was like a normal period. Hope you get it all figured out.

well i thought that at first however, the doctors who took the last test said that according to my hcg level i couldnt have been pregnant. i looked at the charts and it said that 5 and below was non pregnant and 7 and below was post menopausal and for women between 1-10 weeks preggo it was 45-257000 hcg however....i was a 9. i was above non pregnant and i was way below pregnant. which is why i was wondering if the bleeding was messing with my hormones that day. and ive never been on birth control so ive had pretty regular periods. although this time this "period" though looks like my normal period so far it does not have my other usual symptom.

my first blood test wasnt a quantitative it was qualitative so i dont know what my hcg level was on monday it just said positive along with my home tests. id actually taken pregnancy tests last month that clearly came out negative so i know how they work so far and ive been looking at chemical pregnancy but for all of those test (by diff companies and at different times) to be positive and for me to have symptoms im not sure what happened. because the bleeding hasnt been like a MC according to the Doctors i had.

I also agree that it sounds like you miscarried, whether it was a normal pregnancy or a chemical pregnancy.

I agree with the above comment.  Sounds like an early MC - could be a chemical pregnancy depending on how far along you were.

Hey listen, i do not know if im right but this sounds a lot like a CHEMICAL PREGNANCY, google it. There is no way that so many test were wrong, it is so rare that even one would be wrong and pick up a harmone that isnt there, let alone several tests. I chemical Preg is a really early mc, so early sometimes that the baby does not implant it self and you get what you think is your period a few days late or around that time, when it in fact is really you bleeding from the early MC. I had one on my honeymoon, and i didnt know it, i thought cus i was messing around with my BC pills i was spotting but i was really prego and that was the MC. I came home and 17days later got a pos digital test. Even though it said i was prego, i was not anymore cause when i was spotting that was my Early MC. Sometimes when you are just getting off the pill or on the pill and you get preg, what the pill does it thin the linning of your uterus so you can not hold the baby, and that is what happ to me, sounds the same with you, just not sure what the reason was, either it was due to a form of BC, or just a freak thing. Good luck! def look into chemical preg, and dont let people tell you the tests where all wrong that sounds crazy to me!
