Amusing: What is the funniest myth that becoming pregnant dispelled for you?

We've all had those pregnancy myths that we hoped (or feared) were true. What is your #1 pregnancy myth that you learned was just that, a myth, when you became pregnant, and what is the 1 thing about pregnancy that you discovered that you totally didn't expect, myths or not!

For me, the #1 myth was "the glow". you know what i'm talking about! that "glow" pregnant women get that turns out to be blotchy skin and/or acne? I was so suckered in on that one.

the one thing I didn't expect about pregnancy that didn't expect but loved was how very happy and relaxed I felt the entire 9 months, excessive vomiting and baby's-feet-in-my-kidneys-causing-bleeding and kidney stones aside. For me, the preggo hormones made me completely level-headed and happy, instead of wacko. Totally expected the opposite!

Also: How close to your due date did you go into labor? How long was your early labor stage? How long was your active labor stage? How long did you push?  (I thought this might be interesting for all those currently-expecting-first-timers :D ).

I went into early labor on my due date...early labor was 26 hours. active labor was 2 hours. I pushed for 20 minutes. (I also tore like a piece of paper because my cervix didn't have as much time to stretch, but I didn't feel it thanks to the wonderful epidural :) felt it after tho..)

I don't really remember what "myths" I heard, but we did do the needle (used a pencil) on a string trick. For DH and I it said girl, boy, girl, boy...four kids total. Well we've got one down, and I guess three to go (maybe I want three or four DH wants three) BUT we had a boy first, and I have a feeling when I do get pregnant it's gonna be a girl.

As far as labor goes, I never actually went into labor I had a scheduled c-section (DS was breech) but I had BH contractions from 23 weeks and at 25 had to get the t word shot to stop them, they were 5 min apart.

I think the first myth that I knew was a crock of sh$t was you only got morning sickness in the first trimester. With my son, I was throwing up on the day I went into labor.

I found the connect between mom and baby to be a great thing that I really didn't expect. I always heard how women fell in love with their little ones right after they found out they were pregnant, but never really believed it until I was pregnant with my first.

I had my son six days before my due date, but was dilated to 3cm two weeks before that. What I consider early labor started about 48 hours before I actually had my son, with contractions being only three or four an hour, still doing something, but not enough to go to the hospital. Active labor was about four hours. When I did finally go to the hospital I was already dilated to 7cm and was given an epidural right away. Pushing lasted about 15 minutes or so.
