Thanks girls! I am going to read those names to my husband when he gets home :) ....and see if make the list!!! I think I might add a few that I like to the list even though he vetos them. Actually with our first DD he was not that crazy about the name Sophia at all, he just said it was ok but not near the top of the list, but when she was born and we went through the names on that list, she looked like a Sophia! And he agreed :) So I should have a few back up names anyways ;)
Glad to hear that some of you also have similiar situations and I dont have the only super picky husband. I cant get him to go through websites and suggest names, but everything I suggest he says no to!
If any one else has suggestions, the names definitely do NOT have to be German. Actually he seems to veto German names faster for some reason... I prefer more classic names. I am sooooo happy for all the names you ladies share and love hearing your stories. Naming two girls is really hard!
I have the same Language issue except mine is Spanish and English, pronunciation in these languages is even more different than German and English. So I understand perfectly I have the same problem and its sooooo hard to find a name. We're having a boy so I think its harder to find a boys name too. We like classic but not common names so same thing as you. so here's my list of girls names I hope any of these helps:
Aitana
Anoush
Areia
Briseis
Ciara
Danica
Gia
Katriana
Lyla
Shiloh
Sienna
Stella
Laia
Aina
Ofelia
Paulina
Mariana
Frida
Oh and my husband vetos EVERY SINGLE NAME for boys too except for Marcello and Finley. But I'm not sure yet.
We had a name choosen but then someone in the family kinda stole it so we had to come up with something else...you are so right, it souldnt be this hard!!
we finally came up with:
Girl - Kindyl
Boy - Bryce
a name will be said and you both will go "THATS IT" and then you will look back thinking, why was it so difficult? at least you have a bunch to go off of and some good ones too!! Good Luck
Well, I'll go out on a limb and say I think you and I probably have similar taste in names, so here are a few of the unique (not weird, just not used often) ones that I liked:
Annabelle
Addison
Delaney
Genevieve
Savannah
Morgan
Phoebe
Harper
Sheridan
Cassidy
Everly
Cicely (like Sicily)
Kendall
Chaney
Mine got vetoed too!!! It's awful. We had a boy name agreed on, but we're having a girl. I think I'm going to have to name her Kendall, it's pretty much the only one he likes... He wanted Jordan and Hailey and such. Too trendy for me ;-) Keep us posted!
What about Ciara (see-air-a). Ciara and Sophia sound good together. I used to have a friend in elementary school named Christania (Chris-tanya). Here are some others:
Audriana
Mariana
Marcella (Mar-kay-la)
Orabella
Heidi my german grandfather named me this since my mom only had a boy name chosen. I guess it could be swedish too.
oh I had this problem with my son. We finally settled on ONE name. Out of all of the boys names he liked ONE! For several weeks I was calling my unborn baby Nicholas. then he comes to me and says, "what if we have a second boy? then we wont have a name for him" so we ended up having a junior just to save the name nicholas for our second child. seriously...it shouldnt be this hard!
I don't know if Gabriella is German but I love that one. My Aunt is on a mission in Germany and she loves it there. I'll have to ask her some suggestions.
just a thought....Annabell (or Annabella), just thought of it because of isabella...something different and i didnt see anyone mention it.
Hi Ladies,
I just read my husband ALL your name suggestions, and he only agrees to have Gabriella and Angelina on the list (of course, in addition to Isabella). He vetoed everything else!!!!! I have decided to add Natalia and Arianna to the list anyways :) Maybe he will forget that he vetoed them.
If anyone else has any suggestions, I am still all ears! I sooooooooo appreciate all your help.
What about, I dont know if these have been said.....
Olivia- I love!
Mia
Gianna- You could call her gigi- Love it!
Marlee
Trinity
Addison
Amberleigh
Corlissa
Madison
Venetta
Rosabelle- Rosabella
Emmaleigh
Georgeanna
Melinda
What about Lydia, or Morgan or Heike (pronounced Hike-uh)
My daughter's middle name is Matilda, I love this and I think it's german?
since he vetoes everything you could them isabella & arabella, or isabella & gabriella! lol gabby and izzy are cute nicknames! just a thought!
How about Aarika? Isabella and Aarika sound great. It is so hard to pick out names. me and my husband have the same problem. But I do think Aarika is a great name. Good luck
We were going to name our daughter Lily Anna, that way we could call her Lily OR use her middle name too and call her "Lily Anna".
Other names (and I'm using names of people I know that end with an "a") are:
Sylvia
Micah
Nadia
Corrina (pronounced Cor-Inna)
Sheila
Tara
Melia
Most of these people are between 25 and 35 years old...
freya, klara, yasmina, mina, lena, rosa, allanyah...lol i'm just making them up now
what about Micaela. This name ends in an a and means gift of god.
i have the same exact problem. Not only is the language thing an issue, but he just has really cr@ppy taste in baby names. He vetoed just about every name i like. This time, he's not even letting me consider names until we know the sex so that it's half as much to debate :(
I'm taking these from the US census top 200... choosing those that end with A
Mia, Natalia (Natalie, but I put an "A" at the end for you), Ella, Anna, Brianna, Victoria, Julia, Sophia, Gabriella, Alexandra, Angelina, Arianna, Carolina, Adriana, Lydia, Keira, Juliana, Sienna, Alexia, Karina, Kyla...

Do any of you ladies have this problem? My husband vetoes everything! I think we will just name both our girls Isabella! Isabella 1 and Isabella 2 :)
Please please please please keep them coming. I appreciate the suggestions! :)
Riley, Cierra, Annalisa, Leah or Lia, Rhianna, Tierney, Quinn, Mia, Maya or Miya...
Trying to think of -a names (ending with -a or -ah). = )
