Any home remedies for a bad cough/cold?

My 15 month has a bad cough and you know doctor's ain't prescribe anything cough medicine for infants that young. All she have him was saline drops -_- yea I thought it was stupid too. So I'm asking you lovely mommies, anything you do/done for your little ones that helped!? I just hate hearing him cough like a 40yr old man.

I've done all the Vicks tricks, I like the steam idea but only during the day I don't want him coughing through the night. And the onion is interesting, lol I'll attempt to get him to drink it,warm? Thank you ladies, always appreciate your help (:

This may sound nasty but it works really great boil a half of onion after its boil of course ur going to put it in a cup well mix honey and lemon it doesn't taste bad. It worked for me ..

Vicks baby rub on the feet an cover with socks an a little on the chest this should help him sleep better it did for my daughter an I would bring her in the bathroom shut the down an run the hot shower to steam it up that really helps but make sure to keep him warm after he'll get cold
