I used to smoke a pack a day and i never thought i could live life as a non-smoker. i have been cigarette free for 4 1/2 years, thanks to the nicotine patch and hypnotism. the smell is repulsive to me now, but back then i loved them. i would give any quitting method a chance, however it only works if you work it--- you really have to want it. crossing over to life without tobacco addiction is freedom and health.. best wishes
I smoked bt not a pack a day, maybe a pack a for 5days I know "light weight" lool. I stoped as soon as I found out I was prego made hubby happy he was buggin me to quite anyway. What helped me was everytime I wanted to smoke I would think of my baby. Smoking is harmful to then an thats the last thing I wanted to do harm my child. try your best I know you can do it..all the best xx
I used to smoke like a pack a day, and I quit when I found out. The risks just aren't worth it. And I'm not judging anyone cause I know it's hard. But personally my body and everything has been fine cold turkey.
I would think how gross smoking was. By the end of the week I was smoke free. This pregnancy I had already quit so I didn't have to worry about it. To really quit you have to want to quit not quit because some one told you to.
I was a smoker too of about a pack a day it took me 2 months to quit and I just started cutting back slowly then I got to the point where if someone else was smoking is take a couple drags of their cig then I stopped and every time I felt a craving I'd chew a piece of gum and think of the little bambeano growing inside me
I smoked for 8 years and quit cols turkey with my first and started back when she was 6 months and then 3 years later I'm pregnant again and quit again...it never was really hard after the first 3 days it got easier... But my hubby quit also.
With my first child I smoked occasionally and my daughter was born almost 2 months early. I was never able to find out y she came so early, but the chance that it might have been my fault helped me quit in 1 week of finding out I was preggers this time. It has been so so hard but I know i'm doing what is best for my baby, and trust me I will have a pack with me the day I go to deliver my baby, because as soon as my body is mine again i'm smoking

With my son I actually used the patch for 2 weeks. My dr said it was better than smoking and I quit successfully. I did start smoking again after I had him though:/
I also was a pack a day smoker before I got pregnant. I've since quit. It's really hard, but for me, causing harm to my baby is much harder to deal with. I've had a miscarriage, so I'm doing whatever it takes to have a healthy baby this time around. You can do it...just take it one day at a time!! Good luck!
I tried to quit in the beginning of my pregnancy got down to 1 a day then every other day and stopped fully after that but I started having anxiety attacks, headaches and I went completely crazy I ended up putting myself in quarantine in my own house bc I snapped several times at my 5yo step daughter. My doctor told me as long as its less than 5 cigs a day then I can if I wanted to...my body like one of the above posters said my body goes into shock. I am 38 weeks and smoke 5 or less a day...and my baby girl is healthy...got a biophysical done and she passed with flying colors!!
I went to the smokers community to ask this I stil cant quit and I am scared its going to put stress on the baby I was cutting.back but now its gettigo where I am smoking more than half.a pack a day my doctor refered me to a health clinic that give pregnant girls councling and a qick smoking kit but that can take up to a month of waiting. i wanna try what the above comment said and need to find something to keep me busy :s its weird my mo said she just stopped and didnt get the craving as much when she was pregnant i find it worse
*sweats. I had actually put my body in shock!
I allow myself a few a week. I used to smoke a pack a day, so it's extremely hard to quit cold turkey when you smoke that much. My OB said one occassionally is fine because when I actually did quit smoking around 8 weeks, my blood pressure skyrocketed, I started having panic attacks, cold chills, night s
i used to smoke 2 packs a day , gross . & i felt the same way, like how come i'm still craving ciggs when i'm pregnant ? what worked best for me was lolly pops & keeping my hands busy with an elastic . i still crave them , but i've only had a few in the past couple of weeks , which i allow myself because quitting cold turkey is way easier said then done. it would actually make me sick to not smoke. at some point the smell will probably make you sick , but until then just try & keep your hands and mouth busy .(& thinking about baby helps me too !)
I hope this helps , Good Luck !! :)
