disappointed

Had my first doctors appointment today. Thought I was 9 weeks due to my last period date but doctor did a ultrasound to see if we could hear the heart beat but we couldn't hear anything we saw the heart move tho. She said I must be 7 weeks instead wich is a little disappointing since the baby looked really small. any other momys out there that happened the same? Could it be I am 9 but I just have a small baby ?

I've had 5 ultrasounds since finding out i was pregnant. Each time i go they measure differently. At one ultrasound my babies measured one week smaller than they should have been. But at my most recent ultrasound last week (12 weeks) they measured where they were supposed to be. Each time I was told not to worry because it was just an estimate. I have one very active twin and one very shy twin. It's almost impossible to get a measurement off of the shy one as its always moving away from ultrasound and the active one looks like he/she is participating in the Olympics with all the turning and swim like movements going on in there lol. Try to wait until you are farther along...it may have been a little hard for them to get a precise estimate.

I went for an emergency scan at what we thought was 11 weeks. They told me the date was spot on but when I went for my first dating scan four days later, they told me I was 12 weeks, 1 day.
To be honest, before 12 weeks, I don't think it's too accurate. Maybe because babies grow at different rates before then. I'm not sure.
Hang in there! At least there's a baby in there! :)

The same thing happend to me when I when they told me I was 9 weeks and I was actually 7. First they say my due date was june 10 than when they saw the baby on the ultrasound june 20 but when I when to the professional ultra sound one it change to june 23rd. Trust me they know. Your 7 weeks . Those ultra sound system are real smart. I didn't even remember the last day of my period and my baby dude date was still set .

No worries! Before my ultrasound last march 07, I thought I was on my week 8 but I was only on my week 6. But was so relieved that the baby had heartbeat. I suffered miscarriage on my first pregnancy last Oct 17 and the embryo was about 5weeks and 6 days.

I had an u/s at 6+4 and was told I we definitely less than 6weeks even though we saw the foetal pole and heartbeat. Went for my actually dating scan thinking I was 11+4 and turned out I was 12+3 so my original dates were right. 15+3 now and just waiting to go back for my next scan. Can't wait to see my baby again :)

Could be the case (baby being small but still 9 weeks)!

The doctor should send you for an ultrasound before you are 14weeks and they will tell you for sure how far you are!

Minor note: the in office ultrasound is just a general idea of what's going on with your baby! When you go for an actual scan a doctor who specializes in reading the scans will hand a report off to the doctor and it will pin point down the measurement of the baby!

Also keep in mind due dates are just estimates....There is no way to tell exactly when someone becomes pregnant...even when you or your doctor is tracking ovulation!

Hang in there mama! Even if you were disappointed about measuring smaller (for in office ultrasound) at least you got to see the baby and heart beat!
