39w4d pregnant and not effaced=(

i was wondering if there are any mothers to be out there that are far along as i am and not effaced or dilated at all? this is my 3rd baby, i have had 2 c-sections and im trying for a VBA2C with this baby. is this normal to not to be effaced or dilated at all? i only have 7-8 days left and if my cervix is not favorable for labor then i cant be induced with low dose of pitocin=(.
what are some ways that could help with softening the cervix or help making the contractions stronger? shes alittle engaged but not all the way, i had an ultrasound done yesterday and she was weighing in around 7lb 5oz but +/-2lb.

Effacement and dilation  don't mean much about your timing. I understand your concern given you are going for a VBAC (which I am really happy to hear!). I used evening primrose capsules on direction of my midwife starting at 36 weeks. I used them vaginally every other night or you can have sex instead. It helps soften the cervix. Squats and walking can help too but don't wear yourself out! GOod luck Mama!
