As the first two posts say, sex is recommended by many and seems to help ripen the cervix for some women. One thing that worked for me was to have the doctor strip membranes. For both babies I was getting preeclampsia and it was going to be time to induce soon. With my second I was only at a 2 so she could only do just a little, but by the next day I was a 6 and my baby had dropped WAY down. That was without anything more then what felt like some braxton hicks contractions that stalled. They stripped again the next day when I was a 6 and I was in labor within an hour. Although you need a doctor to do this, and there is always the risk of infection/rupture of membranes, it is one of the methods that is used a lot by midwives since from what I"ve read if you aren't ready it won't do anything, but if you are it can give you the little push that you need. Good luck! Let us know if anything works!
I have tried a number of things I tried walking( I did a 5k walk at about 5 days past my due date, while walking lots in that 2 week period) sex, fresh pineapple. I even tried eggplant parmasean(sp). I was told to buy the frozen kind and bake it at home but i went to the olive garden instead not sure if it makes a difference but it didn't seem to work for me =)
I have always heard that sex, hot baths, an yoga are all safe. DO NOT use Castor oil! It will make you go into labor but you will have diarrhea during labor. Search INDUCE LABOR on this site. There have been allot of ladies before you that have asked this. Good Luck. Anita
