Anyone see first heartbeat after 7 weeks?

I went for my second U/S at exactly 6w 4d and the doctor saw a gestational sac and yolk sac, but no heartbeat.  She said everything looks to be growing well, but that she would like to see a heartbeat by next week.  Has anyone else had this experience?  Have you had an U/S at 6 weeks with no heartbeat, and then gone on to see a heartbeat at 7 weeks?  I'm terrified of having a miscarriage!!!

P.S. I know that my dates are exact because I had and HCG shot to trigger ovulation.

When i went in for my 6 week U/S we couldnt hear the heart beat, on close watching the drscreen said there is some flutter like beat seen but too feable to hear. We wen back again  on 8th week and we could hear it strong. If you saw the sac, then it is good. Congrats!

The earliest gestational age that a babys HB can be detected with most standard equipment is 6.5-7.0 weeks.  I wouldnt be concerned about it - what was seen is very NORMAL at this gestational age.

I just dont understand why doctors perform US's so early.  It causes much needless worry and expense (since in most cases a repeat will be needed in a week or two).
