Lately I have noticed when I am around my dog I get all itchy :( & like my skin is on fire afterwards! I have never been allergic to dogs before! I can't even pet my dog anymore w/o getting a itchy reaction :( so my quest. Is WHEN UR PREG. can u develop new allergies????? Pls. Sum1 help me out here! & pls. Do not reply "call ur doctor" thnx!

@Mamabear0612- it totally sux! I never knew we could develop new allergies. I always rub cocoa butter lotion on my belly & vitamin E oil. Hope u found something else dat works for you :)

@breocampo- my other half always plays w/ my dog so she does get attention. When I fed her this morning I already started to get itchy cuz she was rubbing her self by me. We think it may be the new shampoo we used on her too!
@EnvyWaltz- our dog is an outside dog but we gave her a bath & bought her inside for a while so we could take pix. By the Xmas tree :) & my other half said the same thing about maybe our baby being allergic to dogs :( hopefully I'll get some answers next week when I go to the dr.

I've developed new allergies since I got pregnant. Like to cocoa butter, which I've never been allergic to before in my life...so I'm going to be having a cocoa-butterless pregnancy.

Your baby could also have effect, it could be allergic to dogs. I wouldn't be too worried just shave and had your dog groomed regularly. Limit access to areas like the couch and bed.

I'm the same way with my dog I developed an allergic reaction but it is winter here In Chicago and his winter coat is starting to come in! I still play and pet him as I would before but cut it short when I get allergic! Remember dogs have feelings and they need love and attention too

Thanks. I am in Hawaii-Maui. We pretty much have the same weather year round :) I wish it would snow here. Anyways my Dr. Called me back & said she will do some blood test & for now avoid all contact w/ my dog :( & being preg. W/ our hormones all wack sometimes we develop allergies. Just sux tho that I can't play w/ my dog :(

Anyone can develope allergies at any point in their life. In the winter (not sure where you are) their skin is more dry from the cold, creating more dander which is what people are actually allergic to. If it continues, maybe see an allergist and get tested?
