MAJIKAT - I have post natal depression so i am hoping it will not affect the anti depressants, but my doctor recommended it. If sex is painful only rarely i think it may be worth it for reliability
TRYING43 - I put on almost 10KG in a year and a half having the implanon implant so weight gain is probably my biggest worry as my weight is really getting to me but the doctor has said it should not affect my weight as the hormones in within a small area, not circulating around my body like usual contraceptive pills/implanon.
SNAGGLEPUSS1 - Its great it made your periods lighter! True, It can be forgot about so i hope it goes well if i do get it!
Thanks ladies!
I have had a mirena in 2 times now, first time for 18 months, 2nd time for a year. I loved it, I suffer with very heavy periods and although I still had a monthly period one pad would last me a day even on day one...i used to go through a pad an hour for my first 2 to 3 days before the mirena. i never noticed any excessive weight gain myself, but did get slightly more spotty during my period than before i had it. i intend to have another one put in after this baby is born as you can just forget about it once it's in.
I have two friends that have it. One likes it because of no period. The other hates it cuz it seems to be screwing up her hormones. Both have complained of excessive weight gain though. Good luck
I loved my Mirena the whole time i had other than the fact I was always worried i was pregnant cause I never got my period.... but before i had it taken out I had headaches everyday and for the first year i had it i was pretty depressed... the day after it was taken out my headaches were gone!!! I think the hormones might have been messing with me a bit.... also sex was painful at times with it. you should definatley try it if you think its right for you I loved how reliable it was
