Baby didnt pass non stress test

Ok so I went for my non stress test today. During it your babies heartbeat is suppose to go up and down... Well my daughters heartbeat was staying at one number which was 132.. And she wasnt moving. The doctors came in freaking me out and making it sound like she was coming today. I am 36 weeks and 2 days pregnant. They did a ultrasound to check her over and the fluid. All of that was great. They checked my cervix I dont know why but it was 2 1/2 cm and 30% effaced. They checked my BP and it was 158/60. Which is high. But its been high alot during my pregnancy. And well anyways. The had me go to L&D and gave me fluids. My baby starting moving some and heartbeat was doing what it was suppose to. My Bp was still high for about a hour 1/2. Then it was going down which is great. But my blood pressure got down to 93/33. And they say that is normal. Sorry not for me. And not only that my daughters heartbeat would go to 114 and they said that is normal to. I am not a doctor. But I know a BP of 93/33 is low. And the one before that was 93/34. So for some reason now its low. Well they sent me home. I am to do a 24 hour urine collection here at home. They could see I was having contractions but they are not strong. They said plan on the induction on Wednesday.  ( I am being induced because she is measuring 4 weeks bigger.) What do you ladies think. I have passed out a few times and went to L&D. One time my BP was really high. And the other time it was low.... what do you do when you think the hospital is wrong. What is your BP??????????????  My cousin who is a nurse said my BP is what a kids usually is..... OH and my normal range for my BP when I am not pregnant is about 124/60.

When you have blood pressure issues it can be tricky. Low blood pressure can lead to dizziness and fainting. I found the following:

The greatest cause of low blood pressure, whether during pregnancy or at any other time, tends to be dehydration. When the body loses fluids that are not replaced it drastically affects to flow of blood in the body. Additionally, being very hot can contribute to low blood pressure. Standing for a long duration can also lead to low blood pressure during pregnancy.

During pregnancy, there are other specific factors that can cause you to have low blood pressure. Pregnancy causes blood to pool in your legs, making less blood available to the brain. Thus, when you rise from a laying or sitting position you may feel dizzy or faint. Low blood pressure may also cause vision problems for a pregnant woman.

Low blood pressure may or may not require medical treatment. The treatment of low blood pressure is directed toward the underlying cause; if low blood pressure is caused by dehydration, it may be treated by a physician with intravenous fluids. If it is caused by pooling blood, your physician may recommend graduated compression stockings. A little extra salt may also help, but in this case you need to discuss the other risks with your health care provider.

There are some things you can do to prevent low blood pressure during pregnancy. They can include:

– Make sure to drink plenty of fluids, especially water or other clear liquids.

– When you lay down, try to lie on your side, rather than on your back. Lying on your side might also help with the sciatic nerve pain or lower back pain that often accompanies pregnancy.

– If you start to feel faint, sit down. Put your head lower than your body until you no longer feel faint.

– When getting up from the sitting position, take it slowly. Often you can’t help but do this, especially in later pregnancy.

– Engage in an exercise routine regularly. Research shows that regular exercise helps keep blood pressure normal. Keep up with the exercise regimen that your health care provider recommends.

I was suppose to have have Faith on March 17th but my doctors couldnt do the amnio because her cord was in the way. Long story short the next day I thaught I was leaking my waters. I went into the doctors and my blood pressure was high. They sent me to L&D and had a c-section and she was born on March 18th and was 7lbs 2oz and 19 1/2 inches long. And she had a head full of hair.... I was up and walking 12 hours later and I DID NOT TAKE ANY PAIN MEDS AT ALL AFTER i hAD HER.... BECAUSE I AM BREASTFEEDING AND DONT WANT HER TO GET THE MEDS IN HER SYSTEM BECAUSE OF ME... But I wasnt in alot of pain from it anyways. .......Oh and she is now 5 weeks 2 days old. And weighs 8lbs 5oz...and the average 5 week old weighs 9lbs 5.5oz... which puts her at a 19% for weight. but if you go by her actual age she is at a 43% for weight......... Oh and she has been able to sleep through the night 11pm-8am since 4 weeks.......

I would go and not leave until they admit you. Honestly if you're not feeling at least 10 movements an hour AND she is failing NST you should be admitted. If that hospital won't admit you find one that will. And PLEASE do update us.

I was told twins and then not. I have this new doctor who did a ultrasound and seen only one. But back to the non stress test. Well she has failed 2 times. She use to move all the time. Now she moves like 2 times a hour if that. They said she was not having accelerations when she did move 1 time in a hour. And not only that her heartbeat was staying the same. I am so worried about her. My mom had a still born and went through the same thing. I am going to call labor and delivery.. This is just crazy. Its my baby and I dont want to worry if she is ok. I dont have a doppler to check on her. I use to have one but it broke. I want answers now. I will update after I call them. I think they should let me go in.

Hey hon please update us as soon as you can...I jus twanted to let you know that I had super low blood pressure during my pregnancy with my son. I was reading 70/40...60/30....I was admitted, pumped full of fluids, watched, and sent home every time. My BP was so low that it always took their digital BP cuff 5-10 minutes EVERY TIME to get my reading accurately. So I wouldn't worry about that so much....but I, too, would call and say "hey I just don't feel right waiting..I'm worried about my baby" and see if you can get admitted asap. good luck and I hope to hear good news from you soon!

HEy Girl.... Thats scary, if your baby keeps failing non stress tests... Is she moving??? As much as she always does????

If she is failing a non stress test its considered fetus in "distress"..... Aka baby has to come out. Im shocked they let you go home. Your baby keeps failing the tests and they send you home? They wouldnt let me out of the hospital with a failed stress test with my DD.

I hope you get your answers soon!

Well everything I'm reading says if baby fails they should be delivered. Can you call the office and talk to someone? Tell them you're not comfortable waiting and wish to be admitted immediately?

How's baby's movements?

so today I went for another non stress test. And my baby failed it again. they did a ultrasound and said that was fine. They were going to do a amnio today so I could be induced today because of the 2nd failed non stress test but my daughters legs and cord were in the way. You would think with them being worried and making me worried that the would induce with out the amnio. Tomorrow morning I have to go for a contraction stress test. And from there I will know what the plan is. It ***** to sit here and not know if something is wrong with my baby. it took me 5 1/2 years and 5 miscarriages i dont want anything to be wrong or something bad to happen. I hope these doctor know what they are doing by sending me home. i mean they were going to do the amnio on wednesday and induce but come on something is wrong............

Please do! If something is going on definitely better to have her come now. Will be thinking of you and let us know what your family doctor says. More than likely they're going to be TICKED. That is what I'm betting!

Yeah the urine test is to rule out Pre-Eclampsia. And Yes I am going to see my family doctor monday too. Because I know its not normal. And some doctors just try to rush you out. Thank you so much. I didnt think I was crazy. I mean I know they are inducing me on Wednesday. But I think she needs to come now. And I told the doctor in L&D that if they are worried then they should just take her today and not Wednesday.. She said its better to wait. Well not when something is going on.. But I will keep you updated

Well I agree it does sound weird. Do you think you'll get a second opinion? I don't think a BP of 93/33 is normal either based on what I've been told and have read (my mom was an RN and taught me how to use her BP cuff when I was a teen). I think testing for protein is to rule out pre-eclampsia, yes?

Thank you. But it just dont make sense because they said my BP was high because I was dehydrated. And then they give me fluids and a IV. and then my BP was low... They say its normal to have a BP of 93/33 but I dont agree with it. But they are the doctors not me. But I have passed out 2 times one time the BP was high and the other time it was low. I am so glad to have her here next week so I dont have to worry about my BP being high or low. But they are doing a 24 hour urine test to check for protein. I have always had trace amounts. I know the fluids and IV did help with my baby to move and her heartbeat to do what its suppose to.

What I'm finding in a QUICK search by someone who is a non-medical professional is that low BP is not as concerning as high BP. The urine test they are having you do will most likely be the most telling. A blood test could also tell if you have Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension (which could explain your earlier high BP). Ruling out PIH is important.

If you truly do have a blood pressure problem getting baby out will most likely be safest for you and baby, sooner rather than later. With baby's non-stress test being worrisome and the fluctuating BP it might be best to induce. Having an induction does carry risk but can also be life-saving for those who truly need it.

IF you are still feeling unsure about the hospital's care or tests you can ALWAYS get a second opinion.
