Baby in a smokers house

I'm due July 30th and I starting to prepare for my son. One of my issues is I live at home with my mom who is a smoker. She has been smoking for over 18 years. She only smokes inside her room. But I'm still concerned. I know smoke sits on your clothes so I already told her when she comes in my room she needs to wear a smokers jacket and use hand Sanitizer. I'm going to wash EVERY PIECE OF FABRIC IN MY ROOM. From all my clothes to my covers. I googled online I should put baking soda on a piece of paper and that will absorb smoke smell. Any other tips ladies?  An air purifier is to expensive. Will keeping scented candles lite be too much for my son to breath in or what about always using fabreeze alot. Please help.

Can u out an air purifier on your baby registry? Also, that's only one room in the house. Smoke will go all over.  If she wont stop is there any other place you can live? I know this must be hard on you. Good luck.

Ask her to smoke outside for your and babies sake. Second hand smoke kills blowing smoke out the window is nit effective as 80% of smoke is invisible and does not all go out the window or blows back in. Your baby's health is number one priority and she should understand this. Smoke contributes to asthma..chest infections..ear infections...sids..even death. Your son shouldn't be breathing fumes for candles either as its a carcinogen same as incense sticks. Shouldn't be inhaling cleaning sprays. Full of chemicals. Your the babies mother just ask her nicely and present her with evidence of the harmful effects of second hand smoke. I cant see why smoking outside would be a huge deal when its benefiting your child's health. If worse comes to worst stand up to your mum..this is your child and his health is crucial. I had to ask my mother to and she had no problem with it. Second hand smoke is deadly. Wouldn't advise chemicals and candles either your baby should just be breathing clean..plain air. Good luck hope it helped.

Oh yeah and be careful with the febreeze. My ex SIL sprayed down a couch with that stuff and both my son and her son broke out very bad. I never sat on that couch but I used it to spray my room once and had to throw it out bc both of my boys and I broke out with the same rash..so I guess we are all allergic to it, but with a newborn, their skin is a million times more sensitive so just spray the air with whatever air freshener you choose and if you have to spray any kind of furniture, just do one piece incase baby's skin can't handle it. Then you'd just have to wash everything again

Well simce it'll be nice ask her to open the window and blow it out the window with a fan behind jer so it doesn't linger. Doctor's recommend no smoke inside bc it lingers and travels through vents but sometimes u gotta compromise with the person you live with as well. I know it's not ideal for any smoke to be around baby, but those things you plan to do is better than I was able to do. I had exes and fam think it'd be ok to smoke right in the other room then come in right after blowing out their last bit through the doorway. And when I left that person, I'd have to scrub my son and all his belongings after his visit bc he smelt like smoke
