Bad blood results on First Trimester Screen

Hello,
I had a quick question regarding my 1st trimester screening results.
I am 29 years old, and these are my 1st trimester screening results ( U/S at 12 weeks and blood work taken at 11 weeks.
-Baby measured 12 weeks, 5.9mm CRL
-NT 2.1
-Beta HCG- 1.5 MOM (is this normal?)
-Papp-a- -.32 MOM (I have heard this is very low, what is normal?).
Risk for DS was 1 in 64

I am booked in for an amnio in a couple of weeks, but have been told it is only my blood work which pulled down my risk. I would like to know what the norms are?

I am trying to remain positive, but am a huge worrier and this is driving me crazy!
Thank you for any help!

MoM stands for multiples of the median, it basically means that the population median (or the "normal" level) is 1.0 MoM. So, your hCG is slightly higher and your papp-a is lower than average. The combination of increased hCG and decreased papp-a is what put you at a higher risk because this combination has been associated at an increased risk for DS. However, even with an increased risk, most babies are born without DS so I think your chances are still pretty good that the amnio will be negative. You're under 35 and the NT value is normal so that's also encouraging. Hope that everything turns out fine with your little one!

Thank you for your posts. I am hoping that my amnio will come back all clear. I have thought very long and hard about the miscarriage risk of an amnio, which scares me as much as the DS risk ratio... I think i am more inclined to go ahead with it though as i think i would rather know for sure. Again, thanks for the info and encouragement :)

Also please weigh risks and benefits of amnio it's a 1 in 200 chance of causing miscarriage.
