Beginning of labor?

I went the races with my boyfriend & have been having what I believe are contractions that are about 4-6 minutes apart for a few hours. Some of them completely hurt me & some just hurt. Idk weather to call my doctor if its real or not, but it hurts my back too right above my butt. Any one had this happen before going into hardcore labor & how long before please help me.

Thank you :-) I'm hoping he / she makes a speedy appearance. BD and I went shopping today and saw the most adorable outfit for a wee boy, and a beautiful dress for a wee girl and we were dying to buy one, but cant until LO makes an appearance... X

Hi berplus, no still no baby... Just spoken to midwife though and I'm goimg to see her tomorrow at 330 for another sweep... Ill be 40+5 tomorrow x

Fingers crossed for you :-) I've tried callijg my midwife to make a 41 week appointment for this week and for another sweep but just keep getting answer machine. :-(  desperate for it to arrive!!  Had a spicy chicken baguette for lunch and I think ill need to have sex later, try encourage it out x

I keep getting false alarms too! Ugh it's very annoying. I'm 2 days over due now so I'm right behind you. Going it at 2 today to see if any progress & do a men wane sweep & schedule inducement date which I pray I don't have to do I think I'm losing more of my mucus plug it's like snott with some blood and cramping so will see:)

Lol well my little darling was supposed to arrive 4 days ago, mummy doesn't find this funny any more. Just woke up to go pee and have horrendous back ache and all crampy in front... Prob yet another day of false alarms :-(  just drank some cold water and jumped back into bed, see if I can sleep it off x

I can't get induced till after 41 weeks also I tried asking, but I get another sweep tomorrow I'm praying it helps I'm not trying to rush my girl but her stay is over due she was supposed to be evicted 2 days ago. She's gonna owe me some rent money lol! I really hope your bundle decides to come soon. I know how stressful it is I've cruelly been gettin kinda depressed with her not coming or showing much signs. I wa just having bad cramps like 20 min ago but they have eased up a lot.

Maygan55 - I live in Scotland, they dont offer inductions here until you are at 42 weeks or unless there is medical necessity. Otherwise we have to wait it out x

Why dnt u get induced ? I always do When I hit 40weeks an everythngs smooth an baby. Healthy

I know, I dont really want to be induced as I want a water birth. I had curry for dinner last night, then today I walked a few miles, then went on a drive down the borders with bd to try see if the bumpy windy roads would help... I have back ache again and a few tightenings but nothing painful :-(  I dont even know when my next midwife appointment is because she was on holiday last week so I was meant to see the other midwife but she was off sick so it was a community midwife I saw that gave me my sweep, and they didnt book me in for another appointment, just told me to call on Monday to see what my mw had left for this week re getting another sweep x

Oh god lol I've been getting a lot of back pain and a few contractions today, but last night it was horrible, but I have a apt tomorrow for another membrane sweep & to schedule induction date in case the membrane sweep don't work again.

I heard a popand nothing appened so i just didnt think anything of it and took a nap. Like a couple hours later woke up w strong contractions and went to l&d and had him later that day. I always remember that pop tho and no one else really knows what it was i guess lol or had it but ill never forget it lol

Mommy2mathew what happened after you got a pop? All I did was stand up and just felt a pop I don't know what it could have been?!

I know the pop feeling!!! I had that right before going the hospital w my son. Id call :-)  good luck to u! Im due tomorrow and so hoping to start some contractions lol

That's exactly how I feel get a cramp or something I'm like yes it's finally here. But nope it goes away just the horrible pains last night they went away too. I wish the real thing would come, I was induced with my first & really don't want to be induced again I want to experience things this time so I know what it's like. But this little peanut is making it impossible! I hope we both don't have to be induced & our babies come on their own!

Thank you, its the waiting and not knowing is killing me. Every twinge or pain I wonder if this is it Then I just get disappointed lol x

I'm hoping it is but now I'm really doubting it, the pain has subsided a bit just a whole ton of pressure down there now. And when I got up I felt a pop but nothing. I'm so confused this point I guess sit & wait & see if it becomes regular & painful.

Just read youre 40+1 - good luck.... Hopefully its labour.  I had very painful regular contractions on my due date which were 9 mins apart for a good few hours and got all excited... Then they faded to twenty mins apart then disappeared entirely :-( am now 40+3 x

Mommabear- it seems to me then they may be fake but omg they hurt they still hurt but idk if its cause my bf and I just tried sex to help

I sure hope so it's calmed down a little:/ but it started a few hours ago and just kept getting worse I don't know how they could just calm down now?!

How far on are you.... "real" contractions should be regular, timeable, should increase in intensity and frequency.  "false" contractions may vary in strength - ie some might hurt bad, others may be mildly uncomfortable. Some may come at regular intervals ie 5 every 10 min then a longer gap til next one etc.   my midwife akways recommends taking two paracetamol, having a hot bath, something cold to drink and lying down on your left side.   If they are "false" contractions then the mixture of the pain relief, heat from bath and repositioning should help.  "real" contractions stay no matter what position you move to, and should get to the point you can't speak through them. "false" contractions should fade off or change with your movement... Hope that helps x
