Birth Control

I was going to do a poll, but I figured I would just ask the question and see what responses I get..

What is your favorite form of BC and why?

I had my RX filled for Depoprovera and was supposed to get the shot last week, but my Dr. had to reschedule the appointment and the more research I do on it, the more I am not sure if it is the right BC fit for me..

Oh, and I cant do pills every day. I forget and and it doesnt work for me. I hate condoms..  Most BC I have tried either makes me gain weight and/or further complicates my already very irregular cycles (even though it is supposed to the opposite.. go figure..)

Thanks! I know this is the pregnancy forum, but this is sorta same topic, right? If not, sorry!

I had mirena after I had DD and loved it!  But I can't get it again because I had an ectopic pregnancy after I had it removed...  So I have to find another method of BC.  I've heard the implant is nice, but it's got the hormones....

I had the mirena and loved it as well. No periods either! I had the depo in the hospital right when my son was born and hated it. Couldn't lose any weight! I had the mirena for almost 4 years! My opinion is that's the way to go. I had issues with pills too, that's how I got my first bundle of joy:)

I had the Mirena after my first girl alnd i loved it!  No periods for 3 years!  It only took a few months for my body to go back to normal after I removed it and got pregnant.  I have Mirena again and I can recomend it 100%

DO NOT DO DEPO!!  I only did that for the convenience of no periods, but it took my body almost a year to actually start having periods again!!  I would do the IUD for you, hassle free and nothing to remember!

I had the Mirena for 3 years. It took my body 4 months to re adjust back to normal after I had it removed.
After I have this baby (March 9) I will most DEFINITELY be getting another one, but without hormones. It is BY FAR the best form of birth control out there. I loved it.

I think you'd be a good candidate for an IUD...I don't know much about it but since the pill and condoms are not a choice, the IUD sounds good.

I wouldn't do the depo...I've heard about women being messed up for quite some time after they went off of it.  Worse than the pill or patch.

I have the copper IUD.  I couldn't deal with the hormones in the BCP.  I have no problems with it whatsoever.  It's convenient, I don't have to remember to take a pill and I don't have the sick mood swings.

DO NOT DO DEPO!  It'll make you gain tons of weight and you will not have a period.

I loved having a Copper IUD, Paragard, no hormones, no side effects except heavier periods (nothing that a couple of Advils wont take care of), you don't have to remember to take anything AND you can have it for up to 10 years.  Seriously consider it.  I loved my copper IUD I was recommending it to anyone.  I can't take any hormones they give me horrible side effects.
I heard that the Mirena is great too but that has hormones in it.
