Birth control + pregnancy

Well Dh and I had a bit of a "scare" last month when af was a few days late. I'm on the mini pill (I seem to have a really bad reaction to extra estrogen and hormones since having our twins) and it wouldn't be the end of the world (we want another baby but want to wait till our 2 monsters are a bit older) if I were pregnant but we've been taking the precautions (me on b/c and us using condoms). Well a few times this past 2 weeks I've taken my pill more than 3 hours late. I do take it though and we ALWAYS use condoms. Last night we were having some "alone" time and after we were done, the condom was missing. It had fallen off inside and when he ejaculated it wasn't in the condom.

I'm not super nervous, worried or freaked out (neither is DH) but...is it possible...seeing as how I was late a few times taking the mini pill that I could be pregnant? I know I have to do the 2ww to find out if I am or not...

I've noticed an increase in EWCM which I think is ovulation. So, I suppose it's still the waiting game.

I guess it is possible but it all depends on if this incident happened close enough to ovulation. You might be lucky and have missed your fertile window :)

But the only thing you can do is wait. Good Luck :-D

If I didn't have such horrible reactions to the estrogen and hormones (I've tried 3 other forms of combine BCP and all ended horribly. :o( ) I'd be on the combined.

I guess I'm just gonna have to wait. lol.

Just wanted to add...I'm only on the mini BCP because I'm breastfeeding...Otherwise, given the fact that we're "done", I'd be on the combination BCP which is more effective.

I'm on the mini-pill too and from what I understand, it's CRUCIAL that it be taken at the SAME time every day.  Both my GP and my pharmacist made sure I knew that.....plus it's all over the literature that came with my pills in big BOLD print, lol.  My husband and I also use condoms.  We feel that our family is complete so my husband is going to be getting a vasectomy - we're just waiting to hear back from our GP's office regarding his appointment with the specialist.

In your case, I'd guess that it is possible that you're pregnant seeing as the condom went AWOL.  Good luck!!!!

Normally I'm REALLY good at taking them. It's just the past 2 weeks I've had a TON of interviews and figure I'd be home in time but some days I wasn't. I had taken it on time for 4 days prior to and the day of the incident which is good. I just never had to worry about all this when I had my mirena in. (When I found out that I have the intolerance to extra estrogen and hormones.)

My cousin has two little boys and is on the mini pill for the same reason as you. She actually just found out she's pregnant again. I know with regular pills it decreases the effectiveness if you don't take it by the same time every day. So, it's possible to be pregnant.

I'm not sure when I ovulate now. The pill has been messing with my period, but I did have a clear, jelly-like discharge last night and this morning.

I was rereading the pamphlets I got from my ob on my pill and stuff online, it says if it's later than 3 hours to use another form of b/c. Which do anyways. I think the mini pill has to be on time since it's progesterone only.

We aren't going to be freaking out and devastated if I am pregnant, a bit over whelmed with 3 under 3...oh yeah. lol. Especially since out boys are being ....less than cooperative with us. But I know if I am pregnant and the baby is like these two were as newborns it won't be that hard. They were the perfect newborns (except for Eli's acid reflux.) slept, ate and pooed. Lol.

im not 100% on this, but im pretty sure....as long as u arent actually forgetting to take the pill and ur just not taking it on time that it'll most likely be okay....did this accident happen during your ovulation period? or are u not sure when u ovulate because of the pill making ur periods funky...im not really sure how the mini pill works exactly but i know with the regular pill as long as u take it i dont think not taking it on TIME does anything to the effectiveness of the pill?

lol re-reading my response im thinking im not very much help LOL but i just wanted to respond to you to tell u to hang in there...i know with accidents or even potential accidents that the 2ww can be VERY long!
