Weight.

I was over weight to start with at 150lbs and 5'2'' tall. Ive gained 10lbs in the last 2 weeks (probably from eating, not from the baby) Before that my weight was up and down through the pregnancy. Im 15 weeks today and just wondering for my height, how much should I weigh? My doctor (not ob/gyn) said for some loosing weight in the pregnancy is good because they are over weight to start with. As long as Im eating right. Im eating all the food groups and good amounts so I know all is good.

So for a shorty like me at 15 weeks, how much is an appropriate weight?

I am almost 17 weeks and I havent gained any weight. I am over weight also and my Dr said that as long as I'm eating and my belly is growing and the baby is heathy it is ok not to gain a lot of weight. I also work out 3 days a week to make sure I dont gain a lot of weight.

I know why I gained in that 2 weeks.... Lots of sandwiches!! MMM It was my grannys 80th birthday so we were there setting up for her party and there was always sandwiches for lunch and dinner. Now and other than that, Ive been eating well. Ive been wanting to find a good pregnancy work out as Ive heard running is ok, running is NOT ok, biking is ok, Definitely NOT ok... so much out there. Im going to go with anything I was doing before such as daily biking should be fine. It was more like 7lbs I had gained... I had my coat, shoes and pockets full when I had weighed myself the first time. I was talking to a girl at work who was 119lbs when she got pregnant and went up to 189!! Her babys a year old now and shes 140lbs. Most people dont loose it that easily! Shes lucky.

I am 5'5 and started out at about 124.  I am going on 16.5 weeks and have gained 6 pounds total so far.  It depends on person to person my sister is 5'9 and gained 20 pounds when she was as far along was me (70 total).  She is having a very hard time getting it off now.  I would say you can't lose weight now and when we feel so sick in our first trimester we have a tendancy to over due it when we feel better.  Eat a lot it's good for you, but try small meals/snacks all day with lots of fruit/veggies/nuts/whole grains/low fat dairy and go on walks.  If you live somewhere you can't do that, then buy a pregnant workout video on amazon.com and try it a few days a week it should help slow you down a little to get you back on track  :)

10lbs in two weeks is alot and something the dr should be looking into. You said you are eating right and the right amounts so I am confused as to why you would have gained that much. THe baby, fluid and placenta only weighs around 1lb by 15 weeks so you should have not gained more then 2-3lbs by then. My weight for hieght 5'4" is 132 so you should be under that. I am over weight as well and watching my weight for the pregnancy. I have never been over weight before or in any of my other pregnancies. No loosing weight is not good during pregnancy if that is what you try to do but if you are throwing up and sick and not eating then it is ok to loose some but to loose to much can effect the baby and your health!!!!!

You need to portion and watch from here on out becasue when yu get to around 24 weeks the baby will be putting on weight and that is when you need to gain. You would hate to gain from eating and the baby then! Being heavier can cause problems with blood pressure and diabetes.Have you ever had that with any pregnany before> Are you swollen? Those two things can show by weight gain all the sudden.

In a normal pregnancy you shoudl gain 2-3lbs in the first trimester and 1/2lb a week in the second and around there to 1lb sometimes a week in the third but should not gein in the last 3-4 weeks as the baby can take your weight off then A total of 20lbs or so. But being over weight you would not want to gain that much and any baby weight you put on should be near the end if it is extra. Remember you do not have to eat for 2 but normal and or an extra 200-300 calories of good food a day. That is easy with just a handfull of nuts! Not much fat and healthy.

I am alot heavier then you for my height and although I am watching what i eat, like I will not ahve any french fries anymore or empty calories just to make sure my weight gain is healthier I will not diet in any way. I am doing my best and what happens will happen is the way I see it. I plan on breastfeeding so I know it will melt off afterwards!!

I have gained 7lbs total and I am almost 17 weeks.  My dr. said that was on the lower side of normal, I do think it varys a lot from person to person and for each pregnancy.

at 15 weeks for being overweight to begin with I'd say a few lb.  I'm over weight and my midwife says I should gain about 20 lb, but it's not bad if I don't.

Gaining 10 lb in two weeks seems like a lot at 15 weeks.  Try writing down everything you eat for a few days, even if you think your eating the right amounts you may be eating too much.  Also by writing the stuff down you can talk to your dr more closely about it.  If you are eating what you should but are gaining too much there could be something else going on, maybe a thyroid problem?
