There's a parasite in the fecal matter that can cause harm to the baby and ammonia isn't good to breath in whether your prego or nor
I stand corrected. I thought it came from the urine, not the poop. See, I still have more reading to do!
It's not about the ammonia in the cats urine. It's about the parasite in the fecal matter. Same reason we are advised not to garden. Because cats tend to poop in gardens. The parasite they can have can actually be deadly to the baby and cause all kinds of problems. My doctor was actually just telling me today that she just had to deliver a baby pretty early because of this exact reason.
Kitties just have ammonia in the urine and while it smells super nasty it won't harm the baby because its not concentrated enough. Breathing is safe, touching not so much.
No problem! I am a huge animal lover so I read up on all the ins and outs of animals and babies coexisting peacefully and the dos and don'ts while pregnant.
They can also carry a parasite that is bad for your baby when you catch it
Lol its because cats have a parasite in their fecal matter that can be extremely harmful to the baby. Even when handling a cat its best to wash your hands after if you can.
Cats have a toxin in their urine that is super unhealthy to inhale. So it's safer to have someone else clean up after the kitties or wear a mask and gloves when doing so!
