Caffeine and pregnancy.

I heard you should have less than a teaspoon of caffeine... does this mean a teaspoon of coffee or chocolate of the caffeine part? I dont get it. What can I have? I either have a double double from Timmies or a hot chocolate or french vanilla. All small or meduim, no more than one a day. how much should I cut back by?

What to expect when you are expecting breaks it down for you. For tea, coffe and chocolate. They even go as far as instant coffee etc. You can look on their web site. Dr's only say limit and only if you have preterm labor or a history of it to cut back as it can cause contractions. So it sounds like you are fine, but I will say this milk chocolate has less then dark cholcolate and they both can have as much as coffee or more. Just read the label or break it down with the WTEWYE web site.

I believe the 'accepted' amount is 300mg a day, which comes out to about 2 regular cups of coffee. Not sure how much is in the other types of coffee except regular, which is all I drink. :)

Ok thanks. I usually only have a small but when my co-workers get me something, they feel like they are ripping me off so they get me a medium. lol I wont stress over a little then unless my doctor says its something to worry about.

im not really sure about the teaspoon thing, but ive read in my pregnancy books and online that you should cut it back to about one cup of coffee a day...as far as chocolate goes i wouldn't worry about it too much, the amount of caffeine in a piece of chocolate is very small..and some suggestions have said a few cups of coffee a day is okay. so i would say a little bit of coffee and chocolate a day is okay. :)
