I have a blighted ovum 5 weeks 4days(yolk sac)

The ultrasound sound showed me at 5 weeks 4days(last Friday I believed myself to be 6weeks and 3days) I was going by a due date calculator. How far along I am has never been confirmed . What I thought I saw last week was nothing but a gestational sac. This week it was just a clear white circle(yolk sac) my hcg levels had rising to 6,225 she said they should have double to 10,000 my pregnancy is not viable. I never got confirmed how far along I am but she said since my levels are not doubling that doesn't matter.  Even though last week there was nothing there like I thought this week we actually saw a white circle, but she said its a blighted ovum. I have chosen to let it  pass naturally. I am still confused because I still feel pregnant she was very rude I have doubts, but I want get my hopes up. Thanks for all our help ladies sure did mean a lot to me.

What should be seen on a 6wk ultrasound? Concerned !!!!

I am having the same kind of problem , at 5 weeks I had a blood test and at 6 weeks I started spotting went to my doc she send me for an ultrasound , I have a transvaginal  ultrasound to find out that either I have a blighted ovum or that I am not as far along as I think I am . My hcg levee from a week ago which I took at 5 weeks were 946 . My doc informed me today that I had low hcg levels. So low hcg levels + the gestational sac with nothing in it + the spotting = 95%  soon to be miscarriage or dnc . I am so devastated so heart broken and feel so stupid for getting so excited . There is a 5% hope that we calculated my days wrong which could have happened since my cycle isn't always the same so I'm just crying and praying but deep down inside I feel like this pragnancy is over !

I think you need a different docotor, Im trying to get one and a new midwife as mine are both rbbish and are not doing anything to help ease my mind about what might be happening... No one will send me for a scan, and I feel im being treat un fairly and this is causing depression and they are only telling me what I want to hear.

when is your next Us booked for?? id get it done ASAP!

Good Luckk

Maybe you should go to a different doctor.  It is their job to make you feel comfortable, reassure you,  and make sure you are getting proper medical care at the same time.  Us patiants are the reason they are in business.  There are great doctors out there... if I have an issue and I talk to a nurse my OB will call to check on me even if it's 8:00pm.  I hope it all works out for you my fingers are crossed and let us know.  Also, if you have any questions feel free to message me!

I def know I ovulate later and have a longer cycle I am def worried it may have been to soon know. She never asked me any of these question I surely will ask for more blood work and another HCG just in case it is not a blight ovum(if it is this will give me peace of mind that I made sure before making a possibly devastating mistake).  I have no idea why she was rude i'm starting to think this is some doctors routines.

I will ask if they will take one more and see if I can get another ultrasound. I never had it confirmed that I was that far along. I ovulate 16 days with periods every 31 days they do change over. My periods last at least 7 days with light spotting afterwords. She never asked any of this so I figured it must not be important.

If it does not pass whiten a week or two you have to go back for a D&C. If not it can be dangerous so I have read.

Thank you for the good luck I hope everything is okay with you and happy pregnancy :)!!!

I am sorry you're going through this. But she should at least take another blood sample and do another US in a week or so, just incase (if you havent passed if you are having a Blighted Ovum) and I would report to her supervisor that she was rude and didnt do her job properly by explaining whats happening and the HCG levels and things. But one question, if you are having a Blighted Ovum, would you pass it for sure?? Or something, Im scared it might happen to me thats why I am asking I havent even had a scan yet haha.
I really think either her or you can ask our GP just to take one last blood sample to see if it has at all doubled?? Or gone up at least.
I am sorry this is happening. I wish you the best of luck and I hope everything is okay, but you really could have ovulated late and not as far gone as you think you are??

Good Luck.

I think waiting to see what happens is a wise idea. HCG is a funny thing that is SO different for every woman. Even slow-rising HCG doesn't necessarily mean miscarriage. I would wait a couple weeks and go back!

I agree, I would ask for another u/s in a week or two to make sure. Quite often a m/c is misdiagnosed, as doctors and techs jump to conclusions too soon. My doctor told me that I would probably m/c this pregnancy at the beginning because I had low levels of HCG and no m/s, but we proved him wrong!

That is rude she should at least explain to you about how the levels work, so you understand what is happening and be sympathetic.  I am sorry you are going through all of this stress.  At 6 weeks you should see the sac, a fetal pole, and a heartbeat.  But, even a day or two off and this could be missed on ultrasound.  You could be correct going off of your last period, but you could have ovulated or implanted a little later which could cause you to be a few days behind.
Typically in a viable pregnancy the levels do double every 2-3 days without fail.  It doesn't matter where they start just as long as they double.  But, the doctors usually do blood work 3x times every 72 hours if they suspect a problem.  Is she willing to do your blood work one more time and maybe another ultrasound in a few days just to be sure?
