Can I Fly??

I am 6 weeks Pregnant and my Grandma just passed away today so her Wake and Funeral is next week and its a 10 hour drive from where my husband & I live. So with gas prices these days we figure it would just be better to Fly..but can I? I think I've heard you can up until your 5th month? Is that right? I'm just really nervous about flying being Pregnant..what it might do..and just simply changing my schedule. Any information would be great!! Thank You!

Thanks ladies! The flight is only an hour and a half long...and I'll be 7 weeks this week. I figured it was okay..but I just get so nervous changing anything in my schedule, especially flying! I'm gonna call my doctor in a bit just to see what she says.
Thanks!

So sorry to hear about your Gradma.
You are fine to fly up until 32 weeks and if you want to fly after 32 weeks a doctors authorisation note is required.

Hi Gina,

I am so sorry about your grandma. I flew when I was first time pregnant at 14th weeks last 2004. Also, I flew second time when I was 12th weeks pregnant. That was long flight both time I flew Toronto to India. Total flying time was 40 hours. My doctor only told me to walk because of blood circulation and my flying time was so long. I believe you can fly till 34-34 weeks. Best you should ask the doctor.

Best regards,
Sue

Believe me, I don't want to fly! I'm terrified! I've only flown twice in the past 15 years and once was for my Honeymoon and the other time my friend surprised me and took me to Vegas. But I HATE flying. We're only doing it because its over a 10 hour ride and we need to be there Tuesday morning and we're trying not to miss too much work. I don't want to fly at all, but we really have too. After doing more research and talking with my doctor, she said its fine up until your 3rd Trimester, but I'm still nervous!! Thanks for all the help ladies!

It's safe to fly until you are around 32-34 weeks I believe (I may be wrong, but I know it's somewhere in the 30's). Flying will not cause miscarriage.

Gina, I'm sorry about ur grandma. I wouldnt fly. In my baby book says it's better to avoid flying during the first trimister they say the best is to do it only during your second, specially if you have a high risk pregnancy. You can find this info at babycenter.com (I think, since that's what my book is)

First I want to say sorry to hear about your grandma... I've heard that it is safe tp fly up until your 6th month. But if you feel uncomfortable about it b/c of your m/c's I say talk to your doctor and get his/her opinion on it. M/c's are never your fault so even if you were to have one it wasn't b/c of anyhting you did in the past or now. SO don't feel like it would be your fault if you got on the plane and it happend. Again I'm sorry for your loss and I hope that everything goes well for you....

Thanks Cindy...well as you know I've had 2 previous M/C's...so thats what makes me nervous because so far this Pregnancy has been really good (knock on wood) so I'm just scared to change anything or do something risky. So I'm not having problems, but i've had 2 M/C's...so maybe I should ask my doctor..but I figured you ladies on here would have some valuable info! Thanks!
