questioning my due date

ok so my due date based on my lmp would be febuary 5th , this is the date my doctor has gone by most of my pregnancy. my first ultrasound i had was at 19 weeks and 2 days , or thats what i thought , but the ultrasound tech said the baby was measuring 18 weeks , which would make my due date febuary 14th. but the whole time my doctor has told me to stick with the first date.   3 weeks ago i was admitted to the hospital for premeture labour thankfully they stopped it and i have been on bed rest since . but the doctor at the hospital said since there was such a difference that i should go by my ultrasound date. but i was just thinking , i took my first pregnancy test on may 31st 2010 which was positive , and if i am really due the 14th, that means i would have conceived between  may 17, 2010 to  monday, may 24 . now i am just wondering , is that too early for a pregnancy test to show a positive that early after conception  ? could my due date still be the 5th ?  i am 34 weeks now  , and i could go into labour at any time, but the problem is the hospital where i live doesnt take babys under 36 weeks because they dont have a neonatal intensive care unit . so i would be sent to another hospital not close to my home . if i were to go by my lmp date  i would be about 35 and half weeks right now which means only another half a week and i would be able to deliver at my hospital . i know it doesnt really matter which day im really due. its just that my first son was born at 34 weeks , and i couldnt stay at the hospital with him all the time so it was very hard not to be able to see my newborn all the time or take him home with me i dont want to go through that again .

We were told to go by the earliest ultrasound due date that they gave you.  I had one at 6w3d and it was by far the most accurate date.  Just cause a baby is measuring small (against it's due date) doesn't mean that you should bump your due date back a week or 2.  If a 6 year old is the same height as a 4 year old are you going to tell him he is only 4?  No - kids grow at their own pace.

I would go by your LMP unless you know your cycles are longer.  Mine are 35 days - thus I know that when calculating my due date I use a week later (from the start of my LMP) for my calculations cause they are based on a 28 day cycle.

I didn't take it that you wanted to have the baby early, sorry, just that later seems to be better. I would be scared to just get past that 36 wks and try not to worry much. Good luck.

I would go by the earliest due date you have. You might be further along, but it's better to have a later due date than an earlier one and baby come out too soon. It's fine to look/be big and/or measure further ahead. Theres ladies who have measured 4 weeks ahead and had babies on their due date.

well thanks for the replies everyone, like i said it really doesnt matter to me at all when im due or when the baby decideds to come , i am just very nervous where my son born on this week of my pregnancy with him . i know it is best for the baby to come later then earlier , i am not trying to have my baby early if thats what i might have sounded like i was trying to say . i would love to make it full term but where my cervix is funneling the doctors tell me i most likely wont make it full term, so i if i could make it to 36 weeks at the least the doctor said he should be fine because he is a good size and has had the steroriod shots for his lungs to mature quicker.  i just realy feel like im further along because i am very big and my baby was big when they did the growth scan and also ive always measured a few weeks ahead .

Ultrasounds after the first trimester are innaccurate at determining a baby's age since they can be a couple of weeks off.

It would take at least seven days after conception to show positive on a pregnancy test but usually closer to 14 days

I would go off of the later date for a few reasons. Usually you would want to be safe and know that the baby is fully developed. I think babies tend to come when they are ready and no reason to push them to come early if there isn't a problem. My sister cannot have kids naturally so she always schedules her c sec on her due date. With her 2nd child they had moved to another state and changed Dr's. The new Dr tried to tell her she was further along then they thought and gave her an earlier due date. My nephew was born on that new due date and put on a respirator because his lungs weren't developed. He is a perfectly healthy 10 yr old boy now but still very scary. I think it would be better to have the baby a little late then too early. Also, a pregnancy test can show up early on some people. I got my BFP at only 9dpo. I hope this helps a little, just my own opinion and you should do what you feel is best for you. My due date has changed already 3 times according to my u/s measurements and I am not even 16 wks yet. I know when my baby was concieved though because we did IUI so I laugh every time they try to move my date up cause the baby measures bigger.

well you know you have two weeks before and two weeks after your due date that you can give birth so either way you would give birth around one of those days. but congrats
