Be sure you check with your insurance company.  Many will not cover ANY expenses relating to the birth if it should occur preterm, if you've voluntarily traveled outside the coverage area after 32-34 weeks.

Just check first to be sure there are no restrictions such as that.

When you fly most airlines make you bring a note from your doctor okaying it. I know that my doctor wouldn't let anyone fly after 34 weeks where as the cut off for most airlines is 36.

Ah, that's right ...thanks for bringing that up, babydreams!  When you travel, make sure you have your doctor's name, number, after-hours number, insurance info, etc... *just in case*.  And like babydreams mentioned, you may want to locate the nearest hospital to your location (airport and where you'll be staying).

We always hope nothing happens, but it's better to be prepared for the worst-case scenario!!

I second what Avanaar had to say.... and if you do decide to take the trip, be SURE you research where the nearest NICU hospital is in proximity to where you're going. Heaven forbid something happen you'll want to have that information handy. Best wishes!

First of all ...yay Nebraska!!  lol (that's where I live)

As for flying, I've read about it here and there.  But I did a quick Google search for you and found this website:  http://www.pregnancy-info.net/wellbeing_flying.html

It says this (among other things):
"There are some restrictions as to just who should and should not travel the skies when they are pregnant. Generally, women who are having a healthy, normal pregnancy are free to come and go as they please. However, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends women don’t fly after their 36th week of pregnancy.

Airlines have their own flight restrictions for pregnant women, which can vary according to whether you are flying domestically or internationally and which airline you will be flying. Some airlines won’t allow you to travel for 30 days before your due date, while others won’t let you on board if your due date is less than seven days away."

So check with your doctor ...check with the airline.  Hopefully everything will work out and you and yer little one can fly the friendly skies with no problems!
