Can hormones make you feel more stressed?

I have been handling my stress levels really good this pregnancy... I work in a really stressful environment but I have been great at not letting things get to me..

But last night out of no where, I just felt so stressed out and overwhelmed.. couldnt sleep because of it.. i had watched a movie early and even the movie was making me feel really stressed out for no reason...

I ended up calling in sick because of the stress because its not a good environment for me to go to if I am not in a good space... and I feel bad about doing it... but Can the pregnancy hormones be causing me to feel stressed for no reason at all?

Oh yea! For me it's like having PMS on random days. It really does come and go without any warning. I'm driving my husband nuts, but he knew what he was getting into and is pretty good about rolling with it.

When I have really bad days I just try not to interact with people too much. Only watch light hearted comedy movies and keep away from watching the news at all. For me a warm bath with a cup of peppermint tea before bed really helps to melt off that stress and get me ready for sleep.

I hope you feel better after taking the day off!

hormones can make you feel so many different things/ways!! You can go from being happy one minute, to the next crying over a diaper commercial. I always try to remind myself that when I am feeling more stressed or sad that it is the hormones talking and try to relax. Good Luck!!

Sadly, the answer to this is yes.  I have had pregnancies where I haven't been very emotional and then had others where I cry at the drop of a hat.  However, the emotional part usually does not last the entire pregnancy for me.  It usually comes and goes.  One day I feel super emotional and then the next day I feel perfectly normal.  It really stinks and I really prefer to be on an even keel!
