They make strips that you can buy to test your milk to see if it is ok. Just a thought.
Thanks guys. Im not planning on having too many drinks or making a habbit of it. Lol. But that all makes sense :) Hopfully she will take to a bottle.
Once the alcohol is out of your blood stream its out of your breast milk... so the only reason to pump and dump is for comfort(if your over full) other than that its a waste to dump, so dont feel like you have to pump every ounce out as its not gonna make the alcohol leave any faster and missing one or two feeding really shouldnt have too much affect on your milk supply... if you really want to drink i would try offering a bottle before that night... cause if your baby doesnt take the bottle and you have already drank too much then you SOL and you will have a grumpy hungry baby on your hands... my daughter took both a bottle and nursed from the time she was born and did really well but she also weaned herself at 5.5 months and eventually was just a bottle baby(it was nice for me as far as not worrying about drying up but it sucked just cause it was a little earlier than i planned on stopping(not by much) but it worked) I had pumped after feeding her and stocked up that way but i also used formula when it was more convienant... formula these days is a lot better than it used to be and those who choose to suppliment with formula are not harming their baby in anyway... no its not as good as breast milk but it is perfectly safe...
I agree pump before then freeze it and then pump after to get rid of milk from drinking. Should be fine but that young don't do formula as its not nearly as good for baby
I would pump before drinking and make sure you have enough frozen and then pump a couple times after drinking and get rid of it to make sure your milk is clear. I wouldn't use formula
I did with both of my kids and plan on it with this one as well. I pumped following feedings with my son and had milk to store. One drink wont hurt anything, but if you have a few just pump it and toss it. Use stored milk and feed the baby a bottle. By the time you're ready for the next feeding you should be fine.
