Can't wait to conceive.

Hi.

I just got married on the 5th of March, 2009. I got my period the very next day of our wedding. Since then I've been having regular 28-day cycles and now am looking to conceive. Last month my period got delayed around four days and I had taken three pregnancy tests. Two turned out negative and there was this one that showed a very slight line in the positive area. But four days past my due date I got my period but had the worst tummy aches including indigestion and diarrhea. I went to the doctor and she says it's most probably an early miscarriage. But there's no way of confirming that.

She also took a complete ultrasound and cervical examination to make sure everything was okay. And she says my follicle side is good and I am not polycystic. Which is of course great news.

It's just my second period after that (I'm due to have them on the 25th) and there's white thick discharge ... kind of clumpy but odorless. I've been reading it's fairly normal to have this before your period. I took another test the other day since I felt a little paranoid and it had the very veyr faint line. I could be pregnant or maybe I am not - I don't know. And I'll find out in a few days.

But what I'm askign eveyrone is that I've heard a lot of urban legends about women who've supposedly gotten every thing in order in the whole reproductive system - but still aren't able to conceive - even with a sexually competent partner. Is this true? And am I being paranoid? I want a baby so bad.

:(

Do give me feedback if you guys can. Thanks so much!

1.Well that makes more sense on why you are getting tests this early.  No I don' tthink that right now there are any more tests that you need to take unless as I mentioned before you aren't conceiving after 1 full year of trying.

2. You have to think that it only takes one little sperm to fertilize an egg.  In each teaspoon of semen there are tens of thousands (if not more) of sperm.  Only a few hundred sperms reach the egg, the rest that comes out is seminal fluid, mixed with your fluid and some dead sperm that never made it.  I could go on and give you a science class on this issue, but the thing is that the first couple of minutes after the male's orgasm the semen sticks to your cervix and your mucus helps the little guys swim upstream, after a few more minutes, semen turns more liquid and comes out, the sperm stays in your mucus and goes up. In other words, don't worry about what comes out.

3. Nature is amazing to me in the sense that it has a way of working its all a process like a machine and it works very well, anything that disturbs it has a reaction. Storms, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, sun, moon, night and day, it all serves an intended purpose, even diseases as horrible as it sounds, have a purpose.  The fact that there's disease, starvation, war, etc. has a lot to do with human error or human beings disturbing the natural process of nature but nature isn't good or bad, it just is, it has no personality, it just does what its supossed to do. Don't blame nature, blame humans.

4. yeast infections don't have a distinct smell, it burns it itches and your have white clumpy discharge. But yes there are different types of discharge during the cycle, some of it is sticky and pasty white (non fertile) and fertile it just looks like clear stretchy mucus.
5. good luck.  BTW the numbers, are just my way of organizing my thoughts. :P

You weren't mean, and thanks for the info. I really do appreciate it!

Let me clear out a few things however.

1. My family has had a history of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and my mother was a very chronic patient of it. I also inherited a mild form of hirsutism from her which is usually related to PCOS. That is why I was very eager to make sure I wasn't polycystic. My doc did a full cervical exam to make sure the cervix was in position, also did an ultrasound ot make sure there were no cysts and I think that confirms I don't have PCOS. Are there any other tests that I should be going for a few months down the line, if I'm not pregnant?

2. Regular sex isn't a problem. I just want to know I'm doing it right. lol. I read up that most of the semen flows out of the vagina so that always gets me thinking. How the hell can you be pregnant if it all flows out!

3. I don't know if nature is as amazing as we think it is. Women are getting pregnant in war-torn areas and kids are developing fetal diseases that scientists are still fighting for.

4. I read up on that and if the discharge has a distinct smell, it's probably an infection. The cervical mucus that is a slimy discharge happens mid-cycle and the clumpy discharge is often that occurs right before or right after the beginning of the cycle.

5. Yeah, this site has a lot of helpful tools on that. I've looked at it!

6. Doing that too. :)

7. Here's the crossed finger then.

I understand that you can't wait to have a baby and I don't want to be mean but I'm going to tell you a few reality checks to think about before you stress out about conceiving.

1. AFTER 1 full year of ACTIVELY trying to get pregnant (like having intercourse during your fertile period in each cycle, when you ovulate) and you still haven't gotten pregnant, go to your doctor to get checked out and do whatever tests that they want to do.  The average woman takes 5-12 months to conceive.

2. ALL WOMEN have about a 25% chance of conceiving each month when they are actively trying or not using contraception.  That means that 2 in 8 women will get pregnant every month or that you have 75% chance of NOT getting pregnant each month.  You just got to keep having sex regularly.

3. In order to get pregnant you have to make sure that your body is as healthy as it can be before conceiving.  Nature is an amazing thing, if your body senses that something is not a good environment to support a pregnancy, you will either NOT get pregnant or you will miscarry.  Eat healthy, excercise, don't drink too much, don't smoke and relax.

4. Clumpy white discharge is usually a sign of a yeast infection, when you are fertile your body should produce a slimy clear discharge which is a sign of ovulation. Take prenatal vitamins with folic acid and Omega 3's.

5. Keep track of your cycles women usually ovulate at a mid-point in your cycle, sometimes it doesn't work that way so you have to calculate the average length of your cycle so you can predict when you will ovulate.

6. get informed, read all you can about how to get pregnant.

7. Chances are that with regular sex you will become pregnant sooner or later but don't stress about it, most pregnancies happen when you least expect it.

Your very welcome hun!...oh have you tried monitoring your ovulation dates? That may help a bit :) I know when my hubby and i were TTC with my 9 month old i knew every time i ovulated and we made sure we did it around that scheduale. It took me a month to conceive :)

hi i just read that you are ttc and you have gone for tests. my husband and i are trying alos, but he was the first to go for testing. they did a sperm analysis and his sperm count and motility came back low. he had a vericocele which is the veins i guess they are called, that carry the sperm out, is crooked, or blocked. so he has minor surgery to correct this. that was on may 8th. it could take 3 months for the surgery to take effect but you should look into this i think. this might be the problem and it is very simple to fix. let me know. and good luck to you!

Try not to stress so much and just enjoy baby making it will happen when you least expect it
