Car seat advice

I've heard the hospital does a test with the baby in the car seat to make sure it's safe. Well I'm having trouble looking for one. There's stores where the car seat expensive & other stores have the same one but at a cheaper price. What should I look for in a car seat or what kind of car seats do yall recommend & where can I get them ?

Just make sure you get one that is rear facing and it has correct weight for baby on it. If ur looking for cheaper prices trt Graco brand or you can even go to a baby consignment store and get one for cheap. Just wash it well, most seats exterior part is removable to wash. removeable. You can have ur local fire department help you make sure your seat is installed in ur car correctly. The hospital will just check to see if baby is strapped in correctly and belt is adjusted to fit properly.

At my hospital it's a voluntary to have them check the car seat. I would call your hospital and see what their policy is

My hospital didn't do Any kind of check. But I got both my carseats for my first and now this one through a state program that offers a class and the car seat itself is only $10, $20 in the area I'm in now, of course it's brand new and meets all standard rules and regulations. Its for families with low incomes that desperately need a car seat. Idk if it's standard procedure to have Medicaid but I had to bring my Medicaid card with me. Not saying you're low income but if you do receive Medicaid then it would be something you could look into. They may even offer something for women that don't receive Medicaid as well. It was definitely a life saver for me.
