Castor oil at 37 weeks?

Hi im 37wks 2dys
Went to the hospital last night with severe pain/pressure in my pelvic
area. Nurse checked and said i was in very early stage of labor but
my cervix is still up high and closed. Just wondering if castor oil actually
works or not? I was told by a few people that it does and a few people
that its doesnt work.

I just need some help to get this little guy outta me im in a ton of pain
and can bearly walk. So if anyone knows of something that will help
jump start this pregnancy a little faster then what its doing now it would
be very helpful :)

That's how I was feeling Friday and Saturday.  Im 37w 4d. I went to the hospital they said the same thing they told you. I was having contractions 5-7 minutes apart and my sides were killing me. I couldnt even cough or laugh cus it hurt so much. Dr said the pain was from a torn muscle, cus that's what it felt like, legiments stretching and the from Contractions. Sunday night the pain went away so maybe they will go away for you too. They said to drink lots of water, rest on my side && take tylenol, I didn't take it tho cus I don't wanna take any meds while pregnant. Hope you feel better soon :)

That's also why they say do not use laxatives during pregnancy. Same concept as castor oil to uterine contractions but doesn't get everything else going.

I did castor oil at 38 weeks when i was in early labor. It is true, it does stimulate uterine contractions, BUT!!.., it won't dilated you.. I had extreme contractions..less than two minutes apart and was in labor, but I wasn't dilating.... so the docs sent me home in excruciating pain and j just went right back,  they ended up giving me morphine to help me relax and dilate. I did try it and I wouldn't recommend it because it very well may just cause more complications...good luck..walking does work great.

I feel your pain, I'm almost 38 weeks and I'm still closed and the baby is so low, it's so painful :'''( but I heard castor oil can be very bad for the  baby. you only have a few weeks left, hang in there hun!!

No, it doesn't. Castor oil only works by making you have severe diarrhea and vomiting, which dehydrates you. Dehydration can cause labor, but it's very bad for you and baby.

Also, castor oil can cause the baby to poop in the womb which can cause severe complications or death to the baby.

It's definitely not worth the risk.
