Chocolate Milk Help With Severe Heartburn???

So I am having the worse case of heartburn. I always get horrible heartburn late at night like this. I have no meds and I have tried yogurt (yoplait wildberry) and I think the fruit contains acid. I heard milk coats the throat and soothes the pain but I have never been a white milk drinker... unless in cereal. But I do have chocolate syrup to make chocolate milk... will that work just as well?

Hey just to let you know when you look up a list of foods to avoid to help or prevent heartburn chocolate is one of them. It may not make much of a difference but I have severe acid issues and can't have chocolate when I'm having a flare up, it still might help tho! Good luck

Also, avoid eating a large meal within 3 hours of bedtime and sleep with your head elevated. Gravity will help keep the acid below the opening of your esophagus.

Yup. Its the old acid vs base trick. Your heartburn is acid in your esophagus and any form of base would work to coat it. Avoid orange juice, lemonade and spicey foods. Crackers, bread and any form of milk will help. I suggest investing in some zantac. My doctor said its safer than tums or rolaids, as they can damage the lining of your esophagus when taken for a prolonged period.
